Week 12 Fantasy Rankings: Tim Tebow and More QBs Who Will Expose Weak Defenses

Tim DanielsNov 24, 2011

Unless a fantasy owner has an elite quarterback like Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady, the best way to make a decision is the opposing defense. Based on that theory, here are the QBs that should have big weeks thanks to a lack of resistance.

Tim Tebow – Denver Broncos

Tebow is always an interesting case. In Denver's offense he isn't going to throw for many yards, which also limits his touchdown potential, but he still produces like an above average running back. And if he does starting throwing more, even better.

The Broncos play San Diego this week. When the teams last met, Tebow mounted a late rally that came up just short after relieving Kyle Orton. He still managed to score 16 fantasy points in limited action.

Even if you don't buy the hype, he's still a strong fantasy performer.

Week 12 Projection: 17 fantasy points

Matt Ryan – Atlanta Falcons

Ryan has been a disappointment this season, averaging less than 13 points per week. Prevailing wisdom was that Julio Jones' arrival would take the offense to the next level and it just hasn't happened. And now Jones is fighting a hamstring injury.

Negativity aside, things might finally be starting to turn around for Ryan. He's thrown for 300 yards in back-to-back weeks and hasn't scored less than 12 points since Week 5.

Minnesota ranks dead last against opposing fantasy QBs, so make sure Ryan remains in your starting lineup.

Week 12 Projection: 18 fantasy points

Philip Rivers – San Diego Chargers

If Ryan is a disappointment, Rivers is a colossal fantasy failure. Expected to be one of the game's elite gunslingers, he's averaged just over 11 points per week and has scored more than 14 just once. His mediocrity has surely cost owners a lot of games.

In his previous game against Denver, Rivers scored 14 points. The Broncos' secondary remains ripe for the picking, so owners should have faith he'll outperform that total this time around. If not, it will definitely be time to consider benching him.

Week 12 Projection: 20 fantasy points
