Josh Scobee Calls Out DeSean Jackson on Twitter: Who Is the Childish One?

Chris TrapassoNov 22, 2011

Jacksonville Jaguars' kicker Josh Scobee isn't the biggest fan of the Philadelphia Eagles' DeSean Jackson.

That's for sure.

After Jackson was flagged for taunting in the Eagles' Sunday night game against the Giants, Scobee, in true form of today's athletes, took to Twitter.

He sent this tweet to his followers:

"

Desean Jackson is a punk.

"

Tiny bastard?

Strong words coming from a place kicker.

After receiving the obvious backlash from fans, Scobee said this:

"

Relax people. He's just a punk, which to me means he doesn't respect anyone or anything around him. Therefore, I don't respect him.

"

Usually players regret pressing that "tweet" button and are quick to erase their message and apologize immediately.

It wasn't until yesterday, that Scobee "issued" an apology, also on Twitter, if you want to call it that:

"

Shouldn't have called Desean Jackson that, I used the wrong words to try and make my point.

"

Jackson had the following response on Twitter today:

"

This man  is Waaaaaaay outta LIne!! Stick to ya Own business.. Mind ya own!! I don't respect what u sayin.. Lil Boi status

"

Never have we as football fans witnessed such an obscure Twitter battle. Think about it. A household name for the Philadelphia Eagles and a field-goal kicker for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

More unpredictability in this 2011 season.

In this case, Scobee is clearly the more childish one. I get that he may not like Jackson's self-promotion and complaints over his current contract, but is Twitter really the way to handle it?

Scobee should keep this to himself.

Heck, if he wants to go to his teammates in the Jaguars' locker room with his opinion on Jackson, fine.

But to spout off in the middle of that primetime game and call another NFL'er a "punk" and a "tiny bastard" is proof that Scobee is a little immature.

It seems like Scobee wants a little attention himself.

I've got to hand it to Jackson, who went about this the right way. He told Scobee he was way out of line, which he was, told him to stick to kicking footballs and later said that he doesn't even know who Scobee is.

He's got to take a little shot, right?

I've got no problem with that.

In the end, I'm sure many players dislike opponents' sack dances and touchdown celebrations, but you don't see tweets sent out like this one every Sunday night.

Time for you to grow up, Josh.
