Boxing: With Pacquiao Looking Distracted, Floyd Mayweather's Time Is Now
If there were any doubts before the third edition of the Juan Manuel Marquez-Manny Pacquiao fight, there should be no doubts now. Floyd Mayweather Jr. will have no problem beating Pacquiao, especially because Pac-man looked distracted in his controversial decision win early this month.
With more than one possible reason Pacquiao is distracted, it is hard to pinpoint exactly what's bothering the self-proclaimed "People's Champ." But only time will tell just how much the distractions will cost his career in the ring.
Here are the top four distractions that are keeping Pacquiao from fighting like the dominant force that he once was.
Alleged Affair Causing Problems with Wife
1 of 4Since the struggling performance against Juan Manuel Marquez earlier this month, it has come out that Manny Pacquiao has been at at odds with his longtime wife Jinkee.
There have been allegations that Pacquiao had cheated on his wife, with Krista Ranillo, a Filipina actress that Pacquiao shot a movie with in 2009.
Even though they tried to play to the cameras as if they were a happy couple, Jinkee fueled the fire when she did not attend Pacquiao's post-fight party where he put on a small concert as well.
Music Career
2 of 4It's not a secret that Manny Pacquiao loves to sing, as he has been ion the studio recording a new album.
He performed at his post-fight party, and one could only wonder if he was looking ahead to getting to that party to perform on stage rather than performing in the ring.
With the dedication it takes to cut a record, it is no real surprise that the music career of Pacquiao could be putting a damper on his career in the ring. Belting out high notes is no help for belting his opponents in the ring.
TV Appearances
3 of 4Manny Pacquiao loves to hit the late night talk show circuit during his fight weeks, something that can easily distract any fighter.
Pacquiao seems to get caught up in the limelight, feeding off any chance to appear on television and further his star power. He takes on these interviews just days before his fight, which are a huge distraction and can easily throw off his concentration on the fight at hand.
Political Career
4 of 4One career that takes as much time and dedication as boxing is a career in politics.
Manny Pacquiao happens to currently be involved with both a boxing career and a budding political career in the Philippines, and that time-consuming position in politics will affect Pacquiao's career from here on out.
No matter how you slice it, Pacquiao is always going to have his political happenings in his head, as that career will be the one he falls back on after he is done boxing.
With a political career being more serious than squaring up with an opponent in the ring, it is a no-brainer that his concentration in the ring can never be what it was before he jumped in to his political campaign. Floyd Mayweather Jr. will benefit from this as he will pick Pacquiao apart even if he is just a tad bit distracted in the ring.
