NFL Week 12 Picks: Gauging Which Teams Will Continue Building Momentum

Chris TrapassoNov 22, 2011

The Green Bay Packers are looking for their 11th win in as many weeks, and the San Francisco 49ers are in pursuit of their ninth consecutive win.

They're extremely hot clubs that are destined for the postseason.

However, these three teams are still battling for the playoffs and will help their chances with another win in Week 12.

Dallas Cowboys

Man, the Cowboys sure have an easy go of it the last month. They're at the end of a stretch in which they had the Seahawks, Bills, Redskins and Dolphins on the schedule.

Three of four of those games at home.

They're getting great offensive balance now, thanks to DeMarco Murray, and their defensive front is still one of the more terrorizing and intimidating groups in football.

The Dolphins have shown great resiliency following their 0-7 start, but they simply aren't talented enough to win on the road in primetime against Dallas.

The Cowboys to 7-4.

Houston Texans

This game against the Jaguars won't be a blowout this week for the Texans, mainly because Jacksonville does have a respectable defense and Matt Schaub is on the sidelines.

But they will be successful enough on the ground with Arian Foster and Ben Tate, and does anyone expect the Jaguars' 31st-ranked scoring offense to light it up against the NFL's best defense?

I don't.

The Matt Leinart experience passes its first test.

Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons are fighting for their playoff lives.

They're a game out of the NFC South lead and trail the Bears by a game for the last Wild Card spot.

Against an Adrian Peterson-less Vikings team, they'll have no trouble keeping pace, especially playing at home.

Too much talent on the outside and Michael Turner will keep Minnesota's defense honest.

Nothing against Christian Ponder—I just don't see him getting into a rhythm on the road facing a defense that will focus the majority of their attention on the passing game.
