Arsenal FC Transfers: 6 Teenagers for Arsene Wenger to Look at in January
What do Cesc Fabregas, Patrick Vieira and Nicolas Anelka have in common?
Of course they all played for Arsenal. Duh.
There's this too: they all were scouted by Arsene Wenger while they were still teenagers. Cesc and Anelka signed while they were still teens, and Vieira signed shortly after his 20th birthday in 1996.
And then they all went on to become great players under Wenger's guidance.
It shouldn't surprise you, then, that we'll be looking at six teenage prospects that Wenger might be looking at during the next transfer window, which opens at the beginning of January.
Who knows? One of these players could become the next Arsenal legend.
The Obvious Targets
1 of 7Arsenal have been linked to Borussia Dortmund's Mario Götze and Ajax's Christian Eriksen.
Both are 19, and both have been covered extensively by the rumour mill. That's why we're not putting them on this list.
Moving on…
1. Jeremy Balmy, Le Havre
2 of 7The Mail Online are reporting Arsenal and Spurs have joined Valencia in the race to sign Balmy, 17, of Le Havre in France.
He won't be available until the summer, but Wenger might be able to get lay some groundwork in January.
2. Matt Lecointe, Plymouth Argyle
3 of 7Lecointe, who turned 17 in October, has already made his breakthrough with Plymouth Argyle. But with the club in financial trouble, he might be sold.
Arsenal are reportedly interested.
3. Enzo Zidane, Real Madrid
4 of 7Yes, it's that Zidane.
Enzo Zidane is the 16-year-old son of Zinedine Zidane, the French midfield legend. He has been in the Real Madrid youth system since 2004, but CaughtOffside are reporting that Arsenal are interested.
4. Elliott Hewitt, Macclesfield Town
5 of 7Hewitt, a 17-year-old defender, has already featured for the Wales U-21 side. Now, Arsenal and others are interested in signing him.
Macclesfield Town reportedly rate him at £1.5 million.
5. Ousmane Drame, Padova
6 of 7Drame's agent says Arsenal are interested in signing the 19-year-old forward away from Serie B's Padova.
The agent, however, says Drame will stay with Padova until the summer.
Palermo and Fiorentina have also been linked with Drame.
6. Ahmed Musa, VVV Venlo
7 of 7Musa, 19, played in Nigeria's friendly against Ghana recently at Watford's Vicarage Road. According to the Mail Online, the winger's performance attracted interest from Arsenal.
The fee would reportedly be around £12 million.
