NFL Power Rankings: Identifying the Biggest Offensive Juggernauts

Ryan PhillipsNov 22, 2011

After 11 weeks of the 2011 NFL season it is obvious who the two best offensive teams in football are. In a league increasingly dominated by offense, it should come as no surprise that both squads are in first place of their respective divisions.

The Green Bay Packers have to be first on this list because while they may not be leading the NFL in total yards, they are certainly the league's best offense. The Packers have gone 10-0 so far this season largely because of just how efficient they are when they have the ball. They are currently fourth in the league in total offense (406.5 yards per game) but are first in points per game (35.5).

All of that starts with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who is having a historically great season. So far Rodgers has completed 238 of 329 passes for 3,168 yards with a league-high 31 touchdowns and just four interceptions. He currently leads the NFL in completion percentage (72.3), yards per attempt (9.63) and quarterback rating (128.8).

As long as the Packers continue to roll like this there doesn't appear to be anything standing between them and a second-straight Super Bowl.

The New Orleans Saints have also dominated offensively this season and their 7-3 record can largely be attributed to the work being done when they have the ball. Quarterback Drew Brees is in charge of an offense that leads the NFL in total yards (436.9 per game) and is second in points per game (31.3).

While Rodgers has been the NFL's best quarterback, Brees hasn't been far behind. He has completed 299 of 422 passes (70.9 percent) for 3,326 yards, with 23 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. His 101.3 passer rating is third in the league behind Rodgers and Tom Brady.

The Saints are currently clicking offensively and if that continues we could be headed for rematch of their Week 1 loss to the Packers in the NFC Championship game.
