Blackhawks-Flames: Duncan Keith Lifts Chicago to Sixth Straight Win in Calgary
Game Recap
After a long day of travel from Salt Lake City, UT to San Diego, CA, I had finally reached home and was ready to just rest. However, the Chicago Blackhawks did not allow me to do that.
As I was napping in my bed my Dad rushed to my room and informed me that the 'Hawks game was just about to enter the third period, I reluctantly joined him in the living room and was rewarded for waking from my slumber.

The 'Hawks were dominated early by the Flames and former 'Hawk forward Rene Bourque took a drop pass from Jerome Iginla and fired it past Nikolai Khabibulin. The 'Hawks had their revenge in the second period though.
Just over a minute into the second, Dave Bolland would net his sixth goal of the season assisted by the red hot Andrew Ladd and Brian Campbell. Then just over five minutes into the second, Calgary forward Todd Bertuzzi was called for slashing and just a minute after that Patrick Kane would send a wicked wrister past Mikka Kiprusoff.
But the Flames being the good team that they are would not take that sitting down and two minutes after the Patrick Kane goal, the Flames would answer back as David Moss would put in a juicy rebound in past Khabibulin to tie the game at two.
In the third, neither team would give an inch and would eventually lead to the two teams going into overtime. In the overtime period it only took 23 seconds for the 'Hawks to score as Jonathan Toews drove the puck right at Kiprusoff. Unable to get a shot off he centered the puck in front of the net and Duncan Keith was able to put it in for the game winner.

Jonathan Toews
It was great to see Toews get a point since he was left out of the scoring in Edmonton, but even though he has not been racking up the points he has been doing the little things, winning face-offs, battling in the corners, and getting in front of the net.
He had a great play on the game winner as he drove the net and drew four defenders, leaving Duncan Keith wide open for the game winning goal. Points will come when you play as hard as Toews.
Next Game
The 'Hawks will be in Vancouver on Saturday night to take on the Canucks in back to back games. This game will be the final game for the 'Hawks on their Western Canadian road trip. The 'Hawks will not see the newly signed Mats Sundin, as the Canucks are not trying to rush him into the lineup. The 'Hawks defeated the Canucks in Chicago 4-2 back in October.
Hawk Shots
Brent Sopel was a healthy scratch for the second straight game and doesn't figure to make it back into the lineup any time soon, as Matt Walker has been playing very solidly and James Wisniewski has scored three points in his first two games. There has been speculation that Sopel could possibly be traded or even waived though.
