WWE Survivor Series 2011: Opening Act Makes The Rock at WrestleMania a Must Buy

Gabe ZaldivarNov 21, 2011

In Hollywood, you only get a sequel if the opening salvo warrants one. Sunday's Survivor Series by far met the requirements to make WrestleMania a must see event.

If you ever considered yourself the smallest of wrestling fans, you will need to plunk down whatever the WWE demands in next year's WrestleMania. For months we have known that John Cena and The Rock would duel one another. But so many questions remained.

The first in what is turning out to be be a far more epic storyline than I had anticipated was a little too benign for my taste.

The tag-team battle went just as I expected, but that hardly deters me from WrestleMania action. The last battle of Sunday's epic was just what we needed to answer those looming questions.

First, we needed to see if The Rock still had the endurance and power that he once delivered. Sure we saw brief spats of such things on the build up, but he needed to be seen and believed in the heat of battle.

I now have trouble gauging whether or not I enjoyed the style and power of young Rock or old. The man just didn't miss a beat on his way to placing boot to a couple of asses.

Now we know that WrestleMania will not be wasted on Cena and an elderly man that can't defend himself. We are getting what is still a very good Rock.

The other question I have is where this is headed. Now, I have no idea, and I like feeling lost when it comes to the WWE. I knew how Survivor Series would end as I believe we all did, but I don't know the next steps, and that's intriguing.

Cena is obviously chided by most fans. It is now more inconceivable that Cena would take down The Rock and they would allow that to be the end of him.

Could this be a much longer story arc than just WrestleMania? Are we in store for a couple extra twists and turns until then? I think it is highly possible on all counts.

One thing is for certain. The WWE definitely has my attention.
