CM Punk Criticizes The Rock at WWE Survivor Series

Justin WatryNov 21, 2011

Well, I enjoyed WWE Survivor Series last night! It was a great wrestling show, and it was well worth the price I paid to watch.

There are a few noteworthy events coming out of last night, but this may be the most interesting. During an interview with the NYDailyNews.com, CM Punk criticized The Rock's involvement with WWE. Here is one exact quote:

"You know, the thing about that is, he's not around. "He's not around. It doesn't help morale when the guy goes right from his limo to the dressing room to the dressing room to the ring. He's very bourgeois Hollywood."

Punk does make a good point, but we have gone over this before. Rocky returning to WWE is so big; it is just ridiculous for anybody to knock it. He already worked the full schedule years ago, so saying he doesn't anymore is pointless.

Yes, it is a short term run. Yes, he is in the main events. Yes, he is bigger than most of the roster. Tell me something I don't know...

Part of me thinks Punk is just "working" here, but he probably does believe his statements to be fact. Being there every night, you should be a little angry at somebody just walking in and taking "your" spot.

Sadly, Punk is WWE Champion, and is on a major roll with the company, Thus, I am not sure how much of a case he has here. If he was in the mid-card and felt "underappreciated," I would tend to care a little bit more.

The last quote I want to feature on is where my problems lies. Here is the exact wording, when asked if Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was a diva:

"I can't say that," Punk said. "At least the WWE Divas say hi to me in the halls."

If that part is true, then I have an issue with it. Whether it is one night or one month, Rock should treat everybody the same. Walk in the locker room, shake everyone's hand and say hello. It is that simple.

Again, we all know he is a major star in Hollywood, but there is no need to act that way on "WWE turf." When you are on WWE grounds, you are with WWE, not a standard movie set.

I really hope a lot of this interview is a "work" because Rocky being "too Hollywood" is really not a story I want to continue reading about. Let's hope this issue is finally gone...
