Penn State vs. Wisconsin: TV Schedule, Live Stream, Radio, Game Time and More

Alex KayNov 21, 2011

The Penn State Nittany Lions are travelling to Camp Randall to take on the Wisconsin Badgers in a game that will decide who wins the Big Ten Leaders division.

Both teams will give it their all as they look to get their final win of the regular season and earn a shot at going to a BCS bowl by defeating Michigan State in the first-ever Big Ten title game.

Penn State got a solid win at Ohio State last week and finally had something go their way, a rare positive moment since the Jerry Sandusky scandal broke and Joe Paterno was fired.

Wisconsin is going to do their best to stop their rival from continuing that run, and also look to avenge their Rose Bowl loss last season.

It’s going to be a great game, so read on to find out everything you need to know.

Key Storyline

The Big Ten Leaders' division crown is on the line this Saturday.

In the last day of the regular season for Big Ten teams, Penn State and Wisconsin will battle for the right to represent the division in the inaugural Big Ten championship game.

Wisconsin is a heavy favorite to win, but could very possibly be upset by a Penn State team reeling from the Jerry Sandusky scandal and playing just their third game without Joe Paterno as coach in 46 years.

If anyone has a chance to overtake Wisconsin at Camp Randall this season, it would be this stalwart Nittany Lions' team that no one believes in anymore.

Who Might Not Play for Penn State (via CollegeInjuryReport.com)

RB Silas Redd – PRB (Shoulder) – Redd participated in the game against Ohio State last week and was able to make some pretty nice plays with his eight carries. He was not able to get into the end zone from a yard out though, and could still be feeling the effects from his shoulder stinger.

I fully expect him to play in this huge game against the Badgers.

WR Jared Abbrederis – PRB (Shoulder) – Abbrederis was possibly not going to see the field against Illinios, but made an appearance with a catch and was in on some punt returns.

He should be ready to go this week returning kicks and making more of an impact at the WR position.

BCS/Top 25 Implications

This game has huge BCS bowl implications and both teams are looking to get a win to face Michigan State in the first ever Big Ten championship game.

The winner of that is guaranteed a spot in what will most likely be the Rose Bowl.

If Wisconsin wins, they would set up a rematch against a team that ended their national title hopes just a few short weeks ago, and it would be one of the most heated games of the season.

If Penn State wins, it would cap off an incredible ending to a season marred by the child-sex allegations against their former defensive coordinator.

Remember, these players had nothing to do with those horrible acts, and they should not be vilified for what one sick maniac supposedly did.

Having them play for a BCS bowl would be somewhat redeeming, and a good way for the program to begin to rebuild their image.

What They're Saying

Bob Flounders at The Patriot-News feels that interim PSU coach Tom Bradley is doing a great job in Joe Pa’s place, but isn’t sure how he feels about the fourth-and-one call he made against Ohio State, that the team failed to convert.

He said,

"

I believe Bradley's emotions may have gotten the better of him on an emotional day. It's been an emotional two weeks. And while there is a place for emotion from the head coach on game day, I don't think it should ever surface before fourth and goal from the one.

The Lions were leading Ohio State 20-14. Roughly five minutes remained in the third quarter. The Lions faced a fourth and goal situation from the Buckeyes' one. It had been first and goal from the two, and three curious running plays in the middle—two attempts by fullback Michael Zordich and a sneak by quarterback Matt McGloin—barely dented the hosts' defense.

"

Tom Mulhern over at Madison.com Sports noted that the Badgers are going to continue using the offensive line personnel the way they adjusted to in the middle of the Illinois game.

He pointed out that, after two bad snaps in a row,

"

“[Offensive coordinator Bob] Bostad quickly made what seemed like a drastic move, swapping positions with left guard Travis Frederick and [center Ryan] Groy, which was the backup plan all along.”

"

The line was much better the rest of the game, and they hope that will continue on Saturday.

Penn State Player to Watch: Stephfon Green

Green put the Nittany Lions on his shoulders last week and led the team to victory against Ohio State.

He scored two touchdowns and ran for 93 yards on his sixteen carries.

Green is a great player and, along with Silas Redd, is keeping PSU in the hunt to make a BCS bowl.

Wisconsin Player to Watch: Russell Wilson

The Badgers' QB had his worst statistical game of the season, but still managed to lead his team from behind and get the win against Illinois.

He threw for a touchdown and ran for one in the third quarter to give his team a 21-17 lead after trailing 7-17 at half.

He’s going to need to do much better against Penn State if the Badgers are going to pull out the win.

Key Matchup: Penn State front seven versus Wisconsin offensive line.

This is going to be the toughest opponent Wisconsin has faced all year on the defensive side of the ball, and their offensive line will need to man up if they want to win the Big Ten Leaders division.

PSU has one of the strongest defenses in the entire nation and will make it very tough for the Badgers to win if they stifle their No. 10-ranked rushing game.
