BCS Rankings Week 13: Why SEC Will Reign Supreme Throughout Bowl Season

Eric BowmanNov 21, 2011

The Southeastern Conference dominates the BCS right now and it will remain this way until the end of bowl season. No other conference can compete with what the SEC has accomplished this year and things will continue to get better during bowl season.

Currently, the SEC has six teams in the BCS Top 25, with five of those in the Top 15, as well as No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3.

Entering the season, eight teams were in the pre-season Top 25, and when the first BCS rankings were revealed, five SEC teams made it in.

It's absolutely astonishing how great the the top teams of the conference have been.

Every conference in college football has the bottom dwellers, but when the cream of the crop is blowing everyone away it's quite remarkable.

Seven teams are currently bowl eligible, and there's a chance three more get their sixth win in Week 13. The experience each team has gained since playing each other will greatly help come bowl season.

Should 10 teams from the SEC get to a bowl game, it's not hard to believe they all can win. While the SEC may not be the only conference that features two teams in a BCS bowl, it will be the one that fares the best in all the bowl games.

Defense has been the strong point of the conference this year, with four teams being in the top five for total defense.

Aside from Kentucky, Ole Miss and Auburn, the rest of the SEC is in the Top 50 of total defense, which is a great achievement.

Because of that the SEC will have no trouble owning bowl season. The fact that two SEC teams could play against each other in the BCS title game is further proof the conference is better than the rest.

As the holidays draw near, the SEC is certainly rejoicing during these happy times. Bowl season will be here before you know it and the SEC will reign supreme just like years past.
