Adrian Peterson Injury: Updates on Vikings RB's Week 12 Status and Fantasy Value
Minnesota Vikings star RB Adrian Peterson left the game against the Oakland Raiders on Sunday with a left ankle injury.
Peterson limped off after a quick start, going for 26 yards and a TD on six carries, and was seen being carted to the locker room for X-rays.
He returned to the field after they turned out to be negative and he was still wearing his uniform but had no helmet. He is scheduled to have an MRI today but it should not be anything to concern Vikings’ fans or Peterson’s fantasy owners.

Judd Zulgad is reporting that Peterson has been held out of practice.
With a player like Peterson, you never want to say never. Still, keep your eyes on the waiver wire. That doesn't sound good.

The guys over at ProFootballTalk had sources tell them that AP will miss at least one game with his ankle injury.
As mentioned earlier, fantasy owners need to pick up Toby Gerhart as insurance incase these rumblings are true.

We have more updates from Jeremy Fowler and the Pioneer Press staff's Twitter feed.
If Peterson shows promise in his football work upon removing the boot on Friday, he could be a potential game-time decision and starter on Sunday.
It will be crucial to monitor his status on Friday, Saturday and right before his game kicks off Sunday at 1:00 p.m. EDT
Update: Monday, Nov. 21 at 1:30 p.m. EDT
The Pioneer Press has learned that Peterson suffered a high ankle sprain.
His playing status is definitely in doubt as a result of this latest revelation.
Fantasy owners should pick up Toby Gerhart as insurance on waivers this week and continue to check back here for the latest updates on AP.
Peterson promised that the injury would not cost him time on the field according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
He said, "That's not in my DNA, I'm going to try to get back as fast as I can and God willing, I'll be up and ready to run this weekend.”
At 2-8, the Vikings are in no position to make a playoff run this season and the team might be more willing to force him to take this Sunday’s game off against the Atlanta Falcons.
But the RB is an ironman and has not allowed injury to slow him down in the past. He has often played hurt and has only missed three games in his entire five-year career.
I expect him to be ready to play but it will be the teams’ call.
If Peterson is held back this week, Toby Gerhart and Percy Harvin would be in line for snaps out of the backfield.
We will have status updates on AP throughout the week, so please continue to check back here for the latest breaking news on the stud RB’s status for Week 12.
According to the Duluth Daily Herald, Peterson has a Grade one high ankle sprain, which is the least severe. He is wearing the walking boot and he won't resume any football activities until Friday.
It seems very likely that Peterson will miss at least one game, but the Vikings are still leaving that option open.
He also has "a little bit of ligament damage" according to head coach Leslie Frazier. Frazier also had this to say:
“The good news is there’s nothing more serious than that,” Frazier said, adding: “He’ll recover from it. It’s just the amount of time that he’ll miss. We’ll have a better indication toward the end of the week.”
Check back here for updates on AP's status for Week 12.
