NFL Draft Rumors: True or False?

The Best Selling Jersey for Every NFL Team

Justine BrownNov 23, 2011

It is no surprise that Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and Patriots quarterback Tom Brady are No. 1 and 2 in jersey sales as the league's two most dominant quarterbacks.

The Dallas Cowboys' top-selling jersey belongs to quarterback Tony Romo, but they lead all teams with in jersey sales with five players in the 25 most sold.

Here are the other top-selling jerseys for each team based on NFL.com's top sellers.

New England Patriots

1 of 32

Tom Brady, Quarterback

Despite arguably being the second best quarterback in the NFL this season, Tom Brady's three Super Bowl Championships, two Super Bowl MVP's, two NFL MVP's, and six Pro Bowl selections leave no question as to why this guys' jersey is the third most purchased amongst NFL players.

An almost guaranteed future Hall of Famer lock, Tom Brady's jersey will likely be hot for years to come.

New York Jets

2 of 32

Mark Sanchez, Quarterback

Even though the Jets' quarterback has not had the most stellar of seasons, Mark Sanchez' jersey is still the teams'  top seller.

This is not a huge surprise as the young quarterback has very high expectations and shows glimpses of greatness from time to time.  Not mention, his pretty face probably doesn't hurt with the female fans.

However, Jets' star cornerback Darrelle Revis is giving Sanchez a run for his money at second place.

Buffalo Bills

3 of 32

Ryan Fitzpatrick, Quarterback

Buffalo Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick's jersey sales likely took a substantial jump with the teams' hot and unexpected start to the season, lead by their quarterbacks somewhat surprising exceptional play.

Second year running back CJ Spiller's jersey has also been a hot sale for the last year or so in Buffalo as the teams first round draft pick in 2010.

The Bills' jersey sale numbers are a tight race with Fitzapatrick, Spiller, Fred Jackson and Steven Johnson all making sales.

Miami Dolphins

4 of 32

Reggie Bush, Running Back

There are probably a number of reasons as to why Dolphins' running back Reggie Bush is the top selling jersey in Miami.

For starters, let's be honest, the Dolphins' don't have a lot of great candidates when it comes to choosing a player whose jersey is worth the money.

Secondy, Bush was a highly anticipated free agent signing for the Miami Dolphins coming from the Saints.  When the Dolphins signed Bush they were under the impression they had found their feature back.

Thirdly, although Bush got out to a slow start in Miami, he's had a few decent games as of late.

Thirdly, Bush still carries a lot of the popularity which he garnered through his successful college career.

Lastly, Bush is a favorite amongst females.

All of these factors probably lead to why Bush is a hot jersey sale.

Wide receiver Brandon Marshall is the runner-up as Bush's competition.

Baltimore Ravens

5 of 32

Ray Lewis, Linebacker

A 16 year Baltimore Raven, 12x Pro Bowl selection, and one of the greatest linebackers to have ever played the game, there is no explaining as to why Ray Lewis is the best selling jersey in Baltimore.

He is the unquestioned emotional leader of this team and has spent his entire career a Raven, why wouldn't fan buy his jersey?

Pittsburgh Steelers

6 of 32

A nine-year Pittsburgh Steeler, Troy Polamalu's jersey has been one of the leagues hottest commodities for a number of years now.  Coming in second in sales behind just Aaron Rodgers, Polamalu's jersey is far and away the top selling defensive jersey.

Having spent his entire career a Steeler, Polamalu's stellar play, mixed with his awesome hairdo and likable personality has helped him to be a fan favorite.  Polamalu is, no question, one of the greatest safeties in the NFL right now.

Cincinnati Bengals

7 of 32

Andy Dalton, Quarterback

Leading the Bengals' to a surprising 6-4 start, Bengals' rookie Quarterback Andy Dalton has won his way to fan favoritism.

A second round draft pick by the team, Dalton has overachieved in the eyes of many and shows great promise for a very bright future.

The runner-up in Bengals' jersey sales just so happens to be his standout rookie counterpart, wide receiver and 1st round draft pick AJ Green.

Cleveland Browns

8 of 32

Colt McCoy, Quarterback

Browns' 2nd year quarterback Colt McCoy has not yet had a breakout season for the team, but as the teams third round draft pick in 2010, he is now the teams top selling jersey.

This spot previously belonged to running back Peyton Hillis, who had an incredible season in 2010, landing him on the cover of Madden, but his extremely disappointing year has caused his jersey sale numbers to take a hit.

Houston Texans

9 of 32

Arian Foster, Running Back

The league's leading rusher in 2010, Texans' running back Arian Foster surprised the entire league last season with his sneak attack.

An undrafted free agent in 2009, Foster worked his way up from the teams practice squad, to the roster, to the starting line-up and uncanny success.

His accomplishments combined with his story can tell you why his jersey sells.

Texans' wide receiver Andre Johnson's jersey is still a hot sale in Houston, but with his injury forcing him to sit out most of this season, along with Foster's ascendance, he's been edged out for the top spot.

Tennessee Titans

10 of 32

Chris Johnson, Running Back

Although Titan's running back Chris Johnson has had one of the most disappointing seasons amongst players in the league this year, he is sell the top selling jersey in Tennessee.

Johnson's competition is not exactly stiff with the Titan's having a new veteran quarterback in Hasselbeck this season and star wide receiver Kenny Britt being hurt.

Jacksonville Jaguars

11 of 32

Maurice Jones-Drew, Running Back

With the Jacksonville Jaguars lack of success over the past few years, running back Maurice Jones-Drew has often times been the teams lone bright spot.

As the leagues second leading running back right now, he holds down the no. 1 spot in Jacksonville.

Indianapolis Colts

12 of 32

Peyton Manning, Quarterback

Although Peyton Manning has not played a down of football this season due to injury, the teams lack of success this season has allowed Manning to remain the top selling jersey.

In fact even if the team was winning Manning would probably still hold the spot.  No question, a future Hall of Famer Manning will go down in history as one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time.

A 14-year Indianapolis Colt, Peyton Manning has won an NFL Championship, won NFL MVP four times, been elected to the Pro Bowl eleven times, and broken a number of records.

Oakland Raiders

13 of 32

Darren McFadden, Running Back

Leading the league in rushing for his first seven games before being injured, Raiders' running back Darren McFadden jumped out to a great start to the season.

Between losing Nnamdi Asomugha to free agency, having had two starting quarterbacks this season, and inconsistent wide receiver play, McFadden doesn't have a lot of competition as team favorite.

Denver Broncos

14 of 32

Tim Tebow, Quarterback'

We all know the story here, and if you don't turn on the television.  Tebow is a fan favorite in Denver and amongst the league, has one of the NFL's hottest selling jersey and despite very unusual numbers, is somehow winning games as the starter in Denver.

San Diego Chargers

15 of 32

Philip Rivers, Quarterback

Spending all eight years of his career with the San Diego Chargers, Chargers' quarterback Philip Rivers has had a nice career and is the leader of this team.

Ever since the departure of first LaDainian Tomlinson and then Darren Sproles, Rivers doesn't have a whole lot of competition in the jersey sales category.

Kansas City Chiefs

16 of 32

Dwayne Bowe, Wide Receiver

Kansas City Chiefs' jersey sales are all over the board, but with the injuries to star running back Jamaal Charles and star safety Eric Berry to start the season, wide receiver Dwayne Bowe seems to have just barely edged out the competition for top selling jersey in Kansas City.

With sales being spread out between Dorsey, Hali, McCluster, Bowe, Charles, Berry and Cassel this is a tight race.

Dallas Cowboys

17 of 32

Tony Romo, Quarterback

Dallas Cowboys' jerseys, in general, are one of the hottest selling commodities in the league.  With five players' jerseys ranking in the top 25 in sales overall, quarterback Tony Romo comes in first on the team at seventh place for all NFL players.

Romo just barely edges out wide receiver Austin Miles, whose jersey is the No. 8 selling the NFL.  The other three players on the list are Jason Witten, Dez Bryant and DeMarcus Ware.

New York Giants

18 of 32

Eli Manning, Quarterback

In his eight season with the Giants, quarterback Eli Manning is having a great season for New York.

His success this year, combined with has past success, leading the team to a 2007 Super Bowl Championship on his way to being name Super Bowl MVP, has warranted Manning the top selling jersey.

19 of 32

Michael Vick, Quarterback

Michael Vick and the Eagles 2011 season hasn't exactly been all that it was expected to be, but coming off of an incredible comeback season in 2010, Michael Vick still has one of the top selling jersey's in the NFL.

Wide receiver DeSean Jackson ranks second behind Vick, followed by running back LeSean McCoy.

Washington Redskins

20 of 32

Brian Orakpo, Linebacker

Washington is another place where jersey are dispersed across the board, with no clear standout. However, young superstar linebacker, Brian Orakpo, seems to have edged out the competition when it comes to jersey sales.

Selected as the 13th overall pick by the Redskins in the 2009 NFL Draft, Orakpo has not disappointed as a two time Pro Bowl selection in his first two seasons.

Jersey sales in Washington reign from Orakp to Chris Cooley, Ryan Kerrigan, Santana Moss, LaRon Landry and everyone in between.

Ndamukong Suh, Defensive Tackle

The second-overall pick in the 2010 NFL draft by Detroit, Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh has one of the top 25 selling jerseys in the NFL.

Seattle Seahawks

30 of 32

Earl Thomas, Safety

Off to a not so great start to the season and losing quarterback Matt Hasselbeck as well as linebacker Aaron Curry, the top spot for jersey sales in Seattle has been a toss up this year.
