NFL Power Rankings: Most Dangerous Teams at the Bottom of the Top 10

Adam WellsNov 21, 2011

Trying to find logic and reason in the NFL this season is like trying to understand the Theory of Relativity. We all know the final answer, but how you get to that conclusion just makes your head spin until it feels like it is going to pop off.

The Packers are the best team in the league, but everything beyond that is up for debate. We have a lot of information to go on, yet the more we study the less we are meant to understand.

The top 10 has been in a state of flux all season but now that we are in the home stretch we are finally figuring out which teams will be in the playoffs.

Included in that list are teams that are playing well. As we see every year, the teams that get to the Super Bowl are often the ones that are hot come playoff time and not necessarily who has the best record.

Here are three dangerous teams to keep an eye on as we enter the final five weeks of the season.

Dallas Cowboys (6-4)

As we enter the final stretch of the season, instead of talking about how disappointing the Cowboys are, we are discussing how they are clicking in all facets of the game and are very dangerous.

The biggest difference between the team now and earlier in the season is the emergence of DeMarco Murray. He has changed the offense and taken so much pressure off Tony Romo, which has made Romo a better quarterback.

The rest of the NFC should be on high alert because the Cowboys might be the most dangerous team in the conference. They can score points and have the playmakers on defense to create turnovers and keep opponents out of the end zone.

Baltimore Ravens (7-3)

It wasn’t pretty and there were times when Joe Flacco still looked like he had no idea what he was doing with the ball, but the Ravens defeated the Bengals and are in first place in the AFC North.

In a weird way, this was exactly the kind of win that the Ravens needed. They played a great defensive team and were able to put up 31 points, Ray Rice was finally allowed to run the ball and that is exactly what he did with 104 yards and two touchdowns.

The defense had some momentary lapses in concentration, but they were able to force three turnovers and hold Cedric Benson to just 41 yards on the ground.

It is not always going to be easy to watch, but the Ravens are starting to take control of their destiny in the division.

Detroit Lions (7-3)

Originally I was going to put the Bears in this spot, but the thumb injury to Jay Cutler has drastically altered that thinking.

The Lions have their share of problems on the defensive side of the ball, but the offense is one of the best in the NFL and they have shown the ability to score against anyone.

If the defensive line can start playing up to its potential, they can be the most dangerous team in the NFC. At some point we have to accept that they won't fix their issues, but for now I remain optimistic about their chances.

Watch out for the Lions this Thursday against the Packers. That could be the most exciting game of the season.

1. Green Bay Packers (10-0)
2. San Francisco 49ers (9-1)
3. Pittsburgh Steelers (7-3)
