Eagles vs. Giants: NFC East in Disarray After Shocking Eagles Upset

Eric BallNov 21, 2011

The NFC East needs to start being placed in the same class as the AFC South and the NFC West.

There isn't one team that deserves to make the playoffs right now.

The New York Giants looked to be the runaway winner two weeks ago, but losing to the 49ers and Eagles has changed all of that.

Losing to a Philly team in complete disarray at home, with Vince Young under center, is unacceptable. That can't happen. All of my confidence in the G-Men is gone. When you have the opportunity to finish off your most hated rival, without their QB, at home, YOU HAVE TO DO IT.

With the Washington Redskins looking like one of the worst five teams in the league, the Dallas Cowboys are now the de-facto favorites to win this division.

Yes, those Cowboys—owners of six wins against the likes of St. Louis, Washington (x2), Seattle and Buffalo—are the favorites.

This division went from being one of the best in football to one of the worst in the span of a year.

The Eagles are obviously the biggest disappointment, but the Redskins aren't too far behind. Both teams have plenty of talent and elite defenses, but just can't put everything together.

The Giants can blame injuries if they want, but it's hard to ignore the ineffectiveness of the running game with Brandon Jacobs as the featured back. He just isn't that good.

Jacobs is a microcosm of the entire division: looks good on paper, shows the occasional flash of talent only to disappoint you mightily in the end.

One of the only certainties of this wacky season is that the NFC East isn't sending more than one team to the postseason.

When was the last time you could say that?
