Arizona Spoiler Alert: Not on Belichick's Watch

Peter HoangDec 19, 2008

After a blow out victory in Oakland last week, Bill Belichick and the Patriots look forward to improving their chances for the post season this week at home against the Arizona Cardinals.

After the Colts victory last night in Jacksonville, one spot remains in the wild card.  Mathematically it is impossible for the Patriots to win their division, meaning their only way into to the post-season is to win that last wild card spot.

Though the Cardinals have locked their division early, they have seem to have called it a season and gearing up for the post-season. Home field in the first round is just fine with them, after a effortless loss at home against the Vikings seems Arizona will take it light and rest their players for the playoffs.

Though Kurt Warner and Larry Fitzgerald will play its not for the need to win, but to keep momentum. Boldin and Arrington are questionable to play, but seems like the Cardinals are playing a Joseph Addai on the Patriots who was also listed as questionable going into the games, was active, but did not play at all last night.

After coming back from a emotional victory for Matt Cassel, less than a week after his father passed away, he threw four touchdowns to future Hall-of-famer Randy Moss, who was playing his former team and seem like he got some payback.

The Cardinals are 2-4 on the road with those two road wins against coming from the 49ers and the Seahawks. This game will come down to who wants it more. It would be a different game plan if Arizona had something to play for, but Bill Belichick at home, even without Tom Brady, will be making it to the Post-season this year.
