Garrett Uekman, Arkansas Razorbacks TE, Found Dead
Arkansas redshirt freshman tight end Garrett Uekman died early this morning, according to CBS Sports. The team has a meeting scheduled to discuss the incident and details are still being researched to discover what happened.
He was 19.
Uekman attended Catholic High School in Little Rock and was the fifth-ranked recruit in the state in 2010. He also received offers from Alabama, LSU and Auburn before deciding to play for the Razorbacks.
After spending last season on the scout team, Uekman was on the Arkansas main roster this season. He did not record a catch in the team's first 11 games as he continued his development.
He had great size at 6'4'', 254 pounds and could have developed into a really strong red-zone threat once he became more acclimated to the college pace.
It's obviously a huge loss for the Razorback family. Uekman will surely be in every one of their minds.
There have been no further statements made about the cause of death or other surrounding circumstances to this point. That should change as the story continues to develop in Fayetteville.
We'll update the situation as more information becomes available.
