A.J. Green Injury: Jerome Simpson and Fantasy Players to Replace Injured Bengal

The Cincinnati Bengals take on the Baltimore Ravens this afternoon, but they will be without their best offensive weapon, A.J. Green, who is missing the game with a hyperextended knee.

NFL Network Anchor & Reporter Stacey Dales is reporting on twitter about Green’s status for Sunday’s game:

With Green out of both the Bengals' lineup and your fantasy lineup, it’s time to hit the waiver wire hard for a last-minute pickup.

Jerome Simpson

Without A.J. Green there to take most of the targets, rookie quarterback Andy Dalton will have to lean on No. 2 wide receiver Jerome Simpson this week.

With the Bengals squaring off with the Baltimore Ravens, this won’t be the easiest game for Simpson to become the No. 1 receiver, but he will be given the best chance to succeed by Dalton.

I expect between five and seven catches today for almost 100 yards and a touchdown.

Earl Bennett

The Chicago Bears don’t have a No. 1 receiver, but something tells me that this week’s go-to man will be Earl Bennett.

Bennett has 11 catches over the last two weeks for 176 yards and a touchdown—not so bad for a guy who was No. 3 on the depth chart to start the season.

Between Bennett’s relationship with Jay Cutler and the lack of talent at wide receiver from Roy Williams and Devin Hester, it’s amazing the Bears don’t use the speedy wideout more.

Damian Williams

While there may be players with more upside, Damian Williams is turning into one of the more consistent wide receivers on the waiver wire.

With at least four catches in each of his last three games and a touchdown in his last two games apiece, Williams has become QB Matt Hasselbeck’s go-to man.

Atlanta has a weak secondary that can be exploited. If the Titans get down early, expect them to air the ball out to Williams.
