Arsenal vs. Fulham: Complete Preview, Live Stream, Start Time and More

Justin WeltonNov 20, 2011

Fulham will travel to the Emirates Stadium on Saturday to face an Arsenal squad that has been scorching since their slow start to the season.

Arsenal (22 points) and Fulham (11 points) have been going in complete opposite directions in the English Premier League table. Fulham have been making their way to the relegation zone while the Gunners have been pushing towards the top of the standings.

It will be an intriguing affair.

Player to Watch for Arsenal: Robin Van Persie

Without question, RVP has been playing unbelievable football, looking like a wizard on the pitch. He has scored 13 goals in 12 games for Arsenal this season, and it looks like his brilliance will only continue. Even though he is the only consistent scoring threat, teams don’t have an answer for the guy.

Mikel Arteta and Theo Walcott are tied for second in goals with two.

Player to Watch for Fulham: Clint Dempsey

I think it’s fair to suggest that Clint Dempsey or Tim Howard are officially the best soccer players coming out of America because of the level of competition they play against and their success. Dempsey has experienced some great success at Fulham throughout his career.

This season hasn’t been bad either. Dempsey has scored three goals and three assists in 12 games. He is averaging about four shots per game.

Aggressive play brings aggressive results and Dempsey has provided some quality minutes at Fulham in 2011.

Key Matchup: Team Defending Robin Van Persie

It is paramount that Fulham doesn’t allow RVP to beat them. They need to force his comrades into being the goal scorers, something they haven’t had great success with this season. Easier said than done, but they don’t have the talent level to be playing from behind so stopping RVP is priority No. 1.

What They’re Saying:

Talks about Arsene Wenger’s future were made public after the headman published some words in a French magazine.

It shouldn’t be an issue going forward now that he came forth with a statement.

Prediction: Arsenal 2, Fulham 1

Arsenal scores two fairly close to one another either in the first 45 minutes or in the beginning of the second half. Fulham grabs a present on the road late. Arsenal continues their hot-stretch of quality play.
