Week 11 Fantasy Football Projections: Frank Gore and Stevie Johnson Will Pay Off

Kyle VassaloNov 20, 2011

Frank Gore's questionable status has some reluctant to start the 49ers' star running back. Some are under the impression that San Francisco will utilize Kendall Hunter more to keep Gore fresh for Thanksgiving against the Ravens, but Jim Harbaugh says the 49ers "(aren't) leaving anything for the swim back."

Gore will play, and you can expect him to amass over 100 yards in this affair, just as he did in the five consecutive games before he went down against the Giants.

The Cardinals will provide no resistance against the 49ers run game. Last season, Brian Westbrook torched them for 136 yards on Monday night with Gore out. Last time Gore faced them at Candlestick, he generated 167 yards.

Gore is having a career year and flourishing in Harbaugh's system. The Cardinals are one of eight teams to allow over 375 yards per game. The 49ers are going to annihilate the Cardinals, and Gore is going to be at the forefront of their success.

He's not the only banged up star who's going to shine, though.

Stevie Johnson is a game-time decision, but if the Bills receiver plays, he's a must start this week. Both he and Ryan Fitzpatrick have fallen off considerably, but with the Dolphins lying in front of them, you shouldn't have any reservations about starting Johnson if he gets the go-ahead.

Don't let this nonsense about the Bills' decline and Dolphins' surge skew your sense of reality. The Bills still have a high-octane offense, and the Dolphins are still terrible.

Vontae Davis can't rescue their secondary from squalor. They allow 256.3 yards per game through the air, and this is the perfect time for Johnson to get back on track.

Johnson hasn't gained over 100 yards in any game this season. Fantasy owners are ready to pull the plug, and in many people's minds, his injury is the last straw.

Don't make this week the week you put him on the bench. It's only a matter of time before Johnson rebounds and this is the ideal week for him to do so.
