WWE Survivor Series 2011: What Would Be Great to See Happen Tonight

Andrew DunnNov 20, 2011

Tonight marks the beginning of the road to WrestleMania as I see it.  I know that's usually started around the Royal Rumble, but given tonight's main event, it's time to think about it.

I don't see this being one of the WWE's best pay-per-views.  I'm really only excited about one match on the card (I'm sure you can imagine which).  There's a lot of potential for success, no doubt, but I see more potential for a lousy pay-per-view.

Usually the things I want to see happen never come to pass.  Maybe it's because I'm a little more ambitious than WWE writers, or maybe I'm just smarter.  Given the state of things in the company, I'm willing to go out on a limb and say most of us on Bleacher Report are the latter.

In any case, these are the outcomes of the night I'm praying to see.  Again, this isn't a prediction slideshow, it's a desired one.

Beth Phoenix (c) vs. Eve Torres

1 of 6

You know, I've really tried to give the Divas their fair share, but it's gotten to the point now where I just fast-forward through the majority of the matches.

Let's face it—Beth and Natalya are the only two who can really cut it as pro wrestlers.

For the second consecutive pay-per-view, we're watching Eve Torres face Beth Phoenix.  I'm hoping that a victory for Beth will put to rest her rivalries with Eve and Kelly Kelly.

Further, this is a perfect opportunity for Eve to turn on Kelly.  While I know Divas matches aren't popular in the WWE, the Divas usually only have one program going on at a time, and it's always for the belt.  In TNA (where females CAN wrestle; yeah, I said it), there are usually multiple storylines going on for the women.

Beth Phoenix can move on to someone else (maybe Natalya?), and Eve and Kelly can feud to hopefully put some sort of fuel on the Divas division.

Dolph Ziggler (c) vs. John Morrison

2 of 6

Why the creative team has stuck John Morrison into this match, I'll never know.  He's been getting buried for months, and while my heart isn't too broken about that, I don't know why they continue to toy with him.

Morrison's contract with WWE is almost up, so his future is uncertain.

I can't really think of an outcome I'd really REALLY like to see in this one.  Dolph Ziggler has been getting a great push recently.  He's got two matches on one pay-per-view yet again.  He's really starting to become a top-notch star in the WWE.

I don't know, maybe it'd be cool to see the creative team shock us for once and put the belt on Morrison.

However, that's HIGHLY unlikely because we all know who will be the United States champ soon (you know it, bro).

Team Orton vs. Team Barrett

3 of 6

I know I'm continuing to sound like a pessimist—I guess that's something readers will just have to get used to during this slideshow.

This traditional Survivor Series elimination match has a lot of upcoming stars on it, but the only fuel behind the match is Randy Orton vs. Wade Barrett.

Sin Cara and Hunico?  Please just kill that feud already.  I'm done with both of them.  I could make less mistakes during in-ring competition than these two.

I know Christian was originally on Team Barrett for his feud with Sheamus, but even that had run its course.  Not the biggest Christian fan, personally.

Really, I'm only interested in seeing how Wade Barrett can perform against Randy Orton.  Having them compete on back to back shows in one on one contests was a little silly.  I don't feel as though that gave the match anymore hype, which was yet another issue I have with this match.

Still, I'd like to see Barrett prove some dominance here.  I know that we can't let Orton look to beatdown, but how 'bout if Barrett and Ziggler (or Cody Rhodes) are the last two standing in the match?  I like it.

It gives the bad guys some credibility, which nearly everyone on Team Barrett needs.  Orton losing in this match wouldn't alter his status in any way.

Alberto Del Rio (c) vs. CM Punk

4 of 6

I don't like Alberto Del Rio.  I've never liked Alberto Del Rio.

His stupid rants and promos?  Boring.  Coming out in a different car every show?  More boring.  His matches?  Change the channel.

I know most of you are enamored with the man, but I wish he'd be the next WWE cast-off.

Which brings me to my point: I want CM Punk to win, and I want him to win dominantly.  It's not just about my hatred and criticism of Del Rio, it's about how much of a star Punk is.  I fear that if he should lose and fade from the title picture, he'll fade right back to where he once was.

I do expect John Laurinaitis to impact this match somehow.  The main point is that I desire to see a new WWE champion come Sunday night.

Mark Henry (c) vs. Big Show

5 of 6

Up until a couple days ago, I thought I knew what I wanted to see out of this match.  I've now changed my mind.

My original desire was to see Daniel Bryan cash in his briefcase on the winner of the match, no matter who it was.  That has since changed.

I love this push that Mark Henry has gotten.  Given his size and loyalty to the WWE, he's definitely earned it.  Plus, Henry and the Big Show put on a shockingly good match at Vengeance.  For them to measure up to the show they put on then will be difficult, but it'd be damn impressive.

I want to see Henry win clean.  As entertaining as I've found this feud to be (post Big Show injury), I think Henry needs to start with someone fresh.  Henry carrying the title to at least the Royal Rumble would be great, as the company needs to let one of their prestigious belts be on the same person for a long time.

John Cena and the Rock vs. Awesome Truth

6 of 6

Finally, we arrive at the highlight of the night.  The Rock will be returning to the ring to team up with John Cena to take on the Awesome Truth.

The Miz and R-Truth have been phenomenal during this feud, though of course they don't get recognized for it.  The two of them are a couple of the company's best heels.

That being said, we know that the Rock and Cena are wrestling at Wrestlemania.  It's time for that fire to get some major fuel poured onto it.  Someone MUST turn on the other.

For me, I'm pretty sure I'd go nuts if John Cena were to somehow turn on the Rock at some point during this match.  Can you imagine the reaction?  Cena leaves the apron or puts the Rock down with an AA?  The company would have some of the best heat in years.

That sets up the Rock and Cena just right, and gives the Awesome Truth a victory so that they can earn a good amount of credibility.
