NFL Week 11 Picks: 4 Underdogs with the Best Shots at Victory

Jon DoveNov 20, 2011

The NFL is a league that has a lot of parity. Each team has plenty of players capable of taking over a game and leading their team to victory.

This is what makes the NFL so exciting, as each week we see several upsets.

Most teams have a legitimate shot of winning each week, except for maybe the Indianapolis Colts. The thought that anything can happen is what makes football so entertaining. Even Indianapolis Colts fans feel that their team has a chance to pull off a win.

This hope and legitimate chance of winning puts people in the stadium and eyes on the T.V. The next few slides feature a few games where I feel we might see an upset.

Oakland Raiders vs. Minnesota Vikings

1 of 4

This season has not been great for the Minnesota Vikings.

They were hoping that Donovan McNabb would be able to step in and lead them back to the playoffs. However, McNabb was never able to find his stride and was eventually replaced by Christian Ponder.

Ponder has gone through the normal growing pains but has shown plenty of promise.

He plays with great energy, which has seemed to inspire his teammates. Ponder gives the Vikings the best chance to win games—not just because of his talent, but also because of his will to win.

Minnesota has a chance to pull off the upset today versus the Oakland Raiders.

Oakland is still trying to break in Carson Palmer and will be without Darren McFadden. The Raiders are also one of the most penalized teams in the NFL—something that could contribute to a letdown.

I see the Vikings playing a good game at home, with a chance of pulling off the upset.

Dallas Cowboys vs. Washington Redskins

2 of 4

The Washington Redskins' DeAngelo Hall is due for a multi-interception game, and what better quarterback to provide that than Tony Romo?

Hall always seems to find a way to play his best football in big games.

Today's game against the Dallas Cowboys is one that is sure to motivate the Redskins.

Hall isn't the only playmaker on the Redskins defense, as guys like Brian Orakpo can also change the game.

The Redskins have not had a great season, but the defense is not the reason for their struggles. This unit has done a good job creating pressure and disrupting the timing of opposing offenses.

Washington has turned back to Rex Grossman as their starting quarterback.

One thing Grossman has proven is that he is capable of surprising everyone. He is one of the most streaking players in the NFL, and if he gets hot the Redskins could pull off the upset.

Tennessee Titans vs. Atlanta Falcons

3 of 4

The Tennessee Titans are in the thick of the AFC playoff hunt.

They feel that they still have a shot at winning their division, especially after the season-ending injury to the Houston Texans' Matt Schaub.

Tennessee is led by veteran quarterback Matt Hasselbeck, who is playing some exceptional football.

Tennessee hopes to build off of last week's performance, where running back Chris Johnson finally got on track.

This team could be really dangerous if Johnson finds his explosiveness and starts making plays. Today's matchup is not going to be easy, as they travel to Atlanta to face the surging Falcons.

Atlanta is 3-1 in their last four games, and could be 4-0 if not for an overtime loss to the New Orleans Saints.

The expectation is that the Falcons will get the victory at home, but that isn't a guarantee. Hasselbeck does not get rattled by road games and loud environments.

Philadelphia Eagles vs. New York Giants

4 of 4

Outside of their strong performance against the Dallas Cowboys, the Philadelphia Eagles have played some uninspired football.

They have been unable to come together as a team and get the most out of their talent.

Philadelphia seems very unlikely to make the playoffs, but they still could play the spoiler role.

The New York Giants are trying to earn the NFC's second seed, a first round bye and a home playoff game.

Philadelphia would love to keep the Giants from reaching their goal. That is going to be motivation enough for the Eagles to come out and perform well.

This is also Vince Young's first start with the Eagles and first shot to rebuild some of his career.

Young would like to become a starter again, and today is his chance to prove he can be successful. He is going to do everything he can to put together a strong performance.

Anytime the Eagles and Giants meet you have throw out the records, because this is a very intense rivalry. Philadelphia has had a miserable season, but a win today would bring some joy.
