Fantasy Football 2011: Musts, Trusts and Busts (Week 11)

Kyle GibbonsNov 20, 2011

From bye-week fill-ins to an up-to-the-minute injury report reference, the Week 11 Musts, Trusts and Busts is the formula for your playoff push.

I have used this formula for multiple league championships, and as of right now, I have the lead in points and have clinched a playoff spot in every league that I am in.

So, why wouldn't you reference a proven formula such as the MTB when attempting to navigate the mine field known as injuries and bye weeks?

Read and construct; trust the MTB.

Quarterback

1 of 3

Musts

1. Aaron Rodgers

2. Cam Newton

Trusts

Matt Ryan, Eli Manning, Philip Rivers, Ryan Fitzpatrick

Busts

Andy Dalton, Josh Freeman, Tyler Palko

Big-Name Byes

Bye-Week Fill-Ins

Tim Tebow, Vince Young, John Skelton, Carson Palmer

Injury Report

Michael VickEagles (Ribs): The Eagles' fleet-footed QB has been officially downgraded to OUT. Matt CasselChiefs (Hand): The injury to his hand is of significant nature, an injury that may shut him down for the remainder of the season.

Matthew Stafford—Lions (Finger): Some attribute Stafford's terrible four-interception showing against Chicago last week to the wind, but I am more apt to believe that it was his finger. Stafford wore a glove on his throwing hand for the first time in his young NFL career in an attempt to correct grip issues. He is officially listed as probable going into Sunday's contest versus the Panthers.

Running Back

2 of 3

4. Ray Rice

5. Fred Jackson

Trusts

Maurice Jones-Drew, Michael Turner, Chris Johnson, DeMarco Murray, Steven Jackson

Big-Name Byes

Arian Foster, Ben Tate, Rashard Mendenhall

Bye-Week Fill-Ins

Reggie Bush, Mike Tolbert, James Starks, Jackie Battle, Michael Bush

Injury Report

Darren McFaddenRaiders (Foot): McFadden is officially listed as OUT on Oakland's injury report.

Beanie Wells—Arizona (Knee): The combination of Wells' knee injury and San Franciso's ability to absolutely dominate a game from a defensive perspective make for a bad day for the Cardinals running back.

Wide Receiver

3 of 3

Musts

1. Calvin Johnson

3. Steve Smith

4. Greg Jennings

5. Dez Bryant

Trusts

Brandon Marshall, Hakeem Nicks, Dwayne Bowe, Jordy Nelson

Busts

Stevie Johnson, Michael Crabtree, Mike Williams, Doug Baldwin

Big-Name Byes

Marques Colston, Reggie Wayne, Mike Wallace, Andre Johnson

Bye-Week Fill-Ins

Laurent Robinson, Denarius Moore, Deion Branch, Braylon Edwards

Injury Report

Stevie Johnson—Buffalo (Shoulder): He has been limited in practice throughout the week. He is listed as questionable, but I believe he'll play.

Miles Austin—Cowboys (Hamstring): He is officially listed as out and, aside from three good games, has been a detriment to fantasy football owners all season. Laurent Robinson 2011 is the new Miles Austin 2009.
