Best Pic of Cung Le's Destroyed Nose After UFC 139 Loss to Wanderlei Silva
Former Strikeforce middleweight champion Cung Le hoped to make his first fight in the UFC a memorable one at UFC 139 on Saturday, and for one round it seemed as if he was on his way to doing so.
Le's opponent, Wanderlei Silva, got dropped in the first but survived to stop Le for good in the second round after landing a vicious assault of knees and punches—a flurry that left Le visibly battered and bruised.
Silva entered the fight having gone 2-6 in his last eight, with his only victories coming against Michael Bisping and Keith Jardine. This is arguably his most important and impressive victory in years.
For Le, the former Sanshou champion will have to reevaluate his career and see where he wants to go from here. The loss was a setback, but it isn't one that can still keep him from improving his overall game.
Both middleweight fighters were awarded the Fight of the Night bonus along with main event fighters Dan Henderson and Mauricio "Shogun" Rua.
