BCS Rankings: Arkansas Deserves Top 5 Ranking After Blowout of Mississippi State

The Arkansas Razorbacks have certainly had a few games this season that weren't all that great. Beating unranked teams by less than a touchdown is hardly something to brag about.

But what is worth bragging about? Well, a 10-1 record is pretty good. A 6-1 record in SEC play is downright spectacular, and they need to be recognized for it. Now, to make a BCS game, they will likely need to beat LSU, and that's a bit of a problem.

The BCS can't take more than two teams from any one conference. If they don't beat LSU, the Razorbacks will be a very clear No. 3 team in the SEC behind LSU and Alabama, who would have both beaten them.

But right now, I am not looking ahead to the BCS games and who will or won't be a part of them. I am simply looking at the teams in the country, what they have or haven't proven, and trying to figure out where they belong.

In other words, if there was a big tournament involving every college football team, where would Arkansas finish?

Right now, I am liking them as a Top 5 team. I haven't felt that way all season, but they have shown some significant improvement as the season has gone on. Few teams can make that claim, and that can't be overstated.

If Arkansas beats LSU and runs the table in other games, then they absolutely belong in the National Championship Game, no questions asked. 

The Razorbacks have been a consistent winner against a grueling conference. Even if some of their games aren't extremely dominant wins, the fact is that they are undefeated, with the exception of a road loss to a good Alabama team.

Other than that, pretty or not, Arkansas has been perfect. You can't ask for more from a team.
