UFC 139 Results: Urijah Faber vs. Brian Bowles Will Steal the Show
Urijah Faber and Brian Bowles have both been WEC champions and both want another shot at tasting gold.
They have to go through each other to get there.
Faber was regarded as one of the best fighters to make the jump from WEC to UFC, but his lack of elite success in the company has been viewed as a disappointment.
This is his time to change that.
UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz beat Faber in a five-round victory that saw some of the best action in that division throughout the year at UFC 132. Taking on Bowles is the first step in his rise back to the top.
For Brian Bowles, this is the first step in regaining the belt that he lost to Cruz because of a broken hand. That mishap happened during their meeting at WEC 47.
Not only did Bowles lose the belt because the doctors stopped the fight, he lost his belt.
Now the only thing standing in the way of a title fight is Urijah Faber.
For me, this fight feels like the perfect representation of the young fighter on his way up meeting with the gatekeeper-type fighter that has been there and seen it all.
Faber is a great measuring stick for the top challengers, and Bowles is looking to get his belt back.
This fight has all the makings of an absolute war with someone getting knocked out.
I think Bowles wins via KO in the second round.
