BCS Rankings: Fan Favorites Who Won't Earn a Trip to the BCS Title Game

Luis BatlleNov 19, 2011

Teams who are in contention for the BCS Championship game against probable opponent LSU more than likely will be the Oregon Ducks, Alabama Crimson Tide and Oklahoma Sooners.

There are other teams whose fans would like to see them in that title game, but won't likely get a shot at it.

Whether it's a team like the Stanford Cardinal, led by the play of arguably the best quarterback in the nation in Andrew Luck, or some of the other explosive teams in the top 15, there are certainly those teams fans would like to see playing for a national championship.

Here are the three teams fans would want to see playing for a BCS title but won't at the end of the day be able to see.

Stanford Cardinal

When Andrew Luck and company take the field, it is as exciting a team to watch as any in college football.

Luck has thrown for 2,680 yards and 29 touchdowns this season. Not to mention he even made ESPN's Top 10 for multiple weeks after a catch to remember earlier this season. Yeah, he's that good, his first catch goes for No. 1 on SportsCenter's Top 10 countdown.

The Cardinal are currently the No. 22 passing offense in the nation—an offense that can boast of scoring the fifth-most points of any team. In their two victories over ranked opponents, which came in back-to-back weeks, the Cardinal beat No. 25 Washington 65-21 and No. 20 USC 56-48 in triple overtime.

Clemson Tigers

The Clemson Tigers are a high-powered offense that features some of the more exciting players in the nation.

One of these players, wide receiver Sammy Watkins, is arguably the most talented freshman on the offensive side of the football in the country. Watkins has recorded 1,034 yards and 10 touchdowns, while going off against Maryland earlier in the year for over 250 all-purpose yards.

A college football fan can't talk about the Clemson offense without also mentioning sophomore QB Tajh Boyd.

Boyd has blossomed into his role and is helping the Tigers to one of the more successful seasons the team has had in recent years. Currently with the No. 12 passing offense and No. 14 ranked overall offense, the Tigers have been helped tremendously by the arm of Boyd.

On the season Boyd has recorded over 3,000 yards and 27 touchdowns, while also picking up four touchdowns on the ground.

When it comes to high-octane, exciting football on the offensive end, there is no question that Clemson is a team fans want to see compete for a national title.

Oklahoma Sooners

Yes, they are a team in contention to play in the BCS title game, yet they are a team that will be on the outside looking in when it's all said and done. There is absolutely no question about it.

There are too many quality teams in the top five that would be chosen before the Sooners would be.

These Sooners feature arguably the best offense in college football, boasting the No. 6 offense in the country. Not to mention the offense has been on a tear as of late, outscoring their last two opponents by a total of 57 points.

If there's a team the fans want to watch go out and give the LSU Tigers a fight, one of the top three teams has to be the Landry Jones-led Sooners, who continue to score points each week against some top-notch opponents.

Unfortunately for fans, we're unlikely to see any of these three teams get a title shot.
