Week 11 Start 'Em, Sit 'Em: Ray Rice and NFL Stars That'll Fail

Donald WoodNov 19, 2011

It’s already Week 11 of the fantasy football season and these tend to be the most important games of the year.

While many teams have clinched playoff spots, there is a dogfight between everyone else for the last few.

These are the weeks you need your top players to come up big, but it will not be all sunshine and laughter for these studs. They will fail in Week 11.

Ray Rice—The Baltimore Ravens run offense should be one of the most consistent in the league with Ray Rice running the rock. It has been anything but.

With less than 10 carries in two of the last four games, the talented running back has been limited in his ability to change the game. Rice is catching the ball, but he needs to be more involved in the offense.

Rice’s 4.1 yards per carry average won't get any help going up this week as his Ravens take on the second ranked defense in terms of yards allowed per game of the Cincinnati Bengals.

Roddy White—Roddy White went from being one of the top five receivers in the NFL last season to one of the biggest busts in fantasy football history.

White is averaging just over five catches per game this season and his three touchdowns has him on pace for his worst statistical season since 2007.

While Falcons QB Matt Ryan’s ineffectiveness this season will hurt White Sunday, playing against a cornerback like Tennessee’s Cortland Finnegan won’t help his cause.

Victor Cruz—The New York Giants may beat the Philadelphia Eagles this week, but Victor Cruz won’t play a very large roll if they do.

Philadelphia has the 11th best secondary statistically in the NFL, but they are playing much better than they were earlier in the season when Cruz had 110 yards and two touchdowns against them.

With the Eagles concentrating more effort on Cruz, it’s the Giants' job to spread the ball around and capitalize on the Eagles' vulnerable middle.
