Patrick DrottarNov 18, 2011

If you were hoping that you would get a break from the UFC one weekend to relax and recharge your batteries, you are all out of luck.

It is being reported by Yahoo Sports that the UFC on Fox 2 will happen on Jan. 28, 2012 and will be hosted by Chicago, Ill., at the United Center.

This now makes four straight weekends at the start of 2012 that feature the UFC.

On Jan. 14, the UFC will head back to Brazil for its second event in less than six months, where a featherweight championship fight between Jose Aldo and Chad Mendes will headline the UFC 142 card.

The following week, the UFC will make its debut on FX on Friday, Jan. 20, and fans will witness Pat Barry take on Christian Morecraft and Jim Miller will battle heavy-hitter Melvin Guillard.

After Fox's second UFC fight the next weekend, the promotion's annual Super Bowl card will bring about one of the biggest welterweight championship matches in recent history, when Georges St-Pierre takes on former Strikeforce champion Nick Diaz.

Then, the UFC will return to Japan for the first time since 2000, where lightweight champion Frankie Edgar will defend his title against the always-dangerous Ben Henderson.

With all of the exciting title fights being scheduled for the new year, Fox is going to have to bring it for their second showing.

The big fight that everyone is hoping to headline the card is the much anticipated rematch between middleweight champion Anderson Silva and trash-talking Chael Sonnen.

Silva did not feel that Sonnen deserved a second chance, but after having a meeting with the UFC, the two have agreed to fight.

However, the Spider has been battling shoulder issues as of late and it is unknown whether or not he would be ready to go at the end of January.

Like mentioned earlier, several of the division's title fights have already been booked up and Silva/Sonnen could be the UFC's only option.

Silva is one of, if not the biggest name on the UFC roster and if he is able to headline the Fox event, the UFC would shatter viewing records.
