Jets vs. Broncos: Tim Tebow and More Fantasy All-Stars in Tonight's Game

T.J. McaloonNov 17, 2011

Tonight’s New York Jets vs. Denver Broncos game has a lot of sub-plots going into it.

Can quarterback Tim Tebow continue to win despite not throwing the ball? Will the Jets shut down this Broncos offense? Will Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis stay awake for the entire game?

That last one I kid, maybe, he did say that the Broncos offense would put him to sleep.

All of those storylines are important, but what is more important is who will be the fantasy football stars tonight.

Yes, fantasy football, also known as the game that makes you put aside your team allegiance to root for individual performance. It’s why a Jets fan may root for Tebow tonight, as he will be one of the players who will have a great game tonight.

QB Tim Tebow, Denver Broncos

Tebow will not tear this Jets defense up with his passing attack. Even if he was an average passer, he would have trouble tonight putting up decent numbers. What makes Tebow such a dangerous player tonight is his running ability.

In each of Tebow’s four starts this year, he has had at least one touchdown either by rushing or passing. So you are guaranteed one score with a combined 200 yards through passing and rushing.

Tonight Tebow will have one rushing and passing touchdown with 125 passing yards with another 75 rushing yards. It will not be pretty, but you will end up with 19 to 24 points tonight.

RB Lance Ball, Denver Broncos

Along with Tebow, Broncos running back Lance Ball is someone that you should start and he’s someone that should be on your waiver wire right now.

Listen, we all know that this Broncos team is run-first, pass-never. So do yourself a favor and pick up Ball, who will get anywhere between 20-30 carries tonight. Last week, when he came in when starter Willis McGahee left due to injury, Ball rushed 30 times gaining 96 yards.

With McGahee playing tonight, but still dealing with a hamstring injury, Ball will still be a big part of this offense. In split time, he will still get more touches than a lot of starters in the NFL this week.

Tonight, Ball has 22 carries with 92 yards and one touchdown. That’s good enough for a 15- to 20-point game for someone that you picked up right before kickoff.

QB Mark Sanchez, New York Jets

Lastly, before even I go pick up Ball, you have to play Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez.

For as bad as the Jets have looked this year, Sanchez has played very well. Over Sanchez’s last five games he has a thrown two touchdowns for every one interception.

In the past, the Broncos have proven that they can be thrown on. Against the Raiders in Carson Palmer's second game in almost a full calendar year, he was able to throw for over 300 yards and three touchdowns. And that was with a horrible receiving core, unlike the Jets.

Tonight, Sanchez will have to pass this Jets team to a victory. The Jets have to put up points so that Tebow and the Broncos have to play catch up. Fantasy owners that start Sanchez tonight can expect him to throw the ball at least 25 to 30 times.

Sanchez will have the Jets offense run through him tonight, as he goes off for 325 yards passing, three touchdowns, but will have two interceptions. Even with the interceptions, his final fantasy point total will be in the range of 20-30 points.

There aren’t a lot of players that you should start tonight. However, if you can, you must start these three players.
