Week 11 Start 'Em Sit 'Em: Full Roster for Recommended Starters

Andrea HangstNov 17, 2011

With four teams on the bye this week, fantasy GMs have myriad questions about who to start at every position. I'm going to make it easier on those searching for recommendations at every position by giving tips on an entire roster full of fantasy must-starts (and suggested sits) for Week 11.

My format echoes the format my league currently operates under: One quarterback, three wide receivers, two running backs, a tight end, a kicker and a defense.

I am also making honorable mention recommendations at every position, so if you have two receivers and a WR/RB or WR/RB/TE flex, there are options here for you as well.

QB: Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers (vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers)

Rodgers is the no-brainer ideal fantasy quarterback starter for this or any other week, with 2,869 passing yards and 28 touchdowns to his name thus far. And against a weak Tampa Bay pass defense, he should have a banner day. Not like you'd ever consider benching Rodgers, but he's my top recommendation for fantasy quarterback this week.

Honorable Mentions: Tom Brady (vs. Kansas City Chiefs), Tony Romo (at Washington Redskins), Carson Palmer (at Minnesota Vikings)

Recommended Sits: Andy Dalton (at Baltimore Ravens), Tim Tebow (vs. New York Jets)

WR1: Greg Jennings, Green Bay Packers (vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers)

The NFL's highest-scoring offense produces a slew of fantasy studs, none as valuable as wide receiver Greg Jennings, who has 51 receptions on 71 targets for 755 yards and seven touchdowns this season. Even if you don't have Aaron Rodgers as your quarterback, you can benefit from the Packers' offensive juggernaut by starting Rodgers' favorite receiver.

Honorable Mentions: Dez Bryant/Laurent Robinson (at Washington Redskins), Brandon Marshall (vs. Buffalo Bills), Wes Welker (vs. Kansas City Chiefs)

Recommended sits: Eric Decker (vs. New York Jets), Sidney Rice (at St. Louis Rams)

WR2: Brandon Lloyd, St. Louis Rams (vs. Seattle Seahawks)

Though Lloyd only practiced four times with quarterback Sam Bradford prior to last week's win over the Cleveland Browns, he's managed to develop real chemistry with his new passer, hauling in nine catches for 128 yards and a score in the last two weeks.

Through four weeks, Lloyd has 21 catches for 225 yards and two score. He's clearly the No. 1 receiver for the Rams from here on out. With the Seahawks defense performing poorly against the pass, Lloyd is an excellent WR2 for Week 11.

Honorable Mentions: Victor Cruz (vs. Philadelphia Eagles), Santonio Holmes (vs. Denver Broncos), Vincent Brown (at Chicago Bears)

Recommended sits: Mario Manningham (vs. Philadelphia Eagles), Torrey Smith (vs. Cincinnati Bengals)

WR3: Harry Douglas, Atlanta Falcons (vs. Tennessee Titans)

With fellow Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones not likely to play against the Titans this Sunday while he continues to recover from a hamstring injury, Harry Douglas will get the start alongside Roddy White.

Douglas does a great job of taking advantage of the double coverage seen by White, reliably catching quarterback Matt Ryan's passes to the tune of 25 receptions for 332 yards, with eight catches for 133 last week alone.

With the Titans defense weak against the pass, he should see his fair share of targets. Douglas was one of the must-add waiver-wire pickups of the week; if you grabbed him, give him the start as a WR3 or flex.

Honorable Mentions: David Nelson (vs. Miami Dolphins), Early Doucet (at San Francisco 49ers), Damian Williams (at Atlanta Falcons)

Recommended sits: Greg Little (vs. Jacksonville Jaguars), Steve Breaston (vs. New England Patriots)

RB1: Maurice Jones-Drew, Jacksonville Jaguars (at Cleveland Browns)

The Browns defense is terrible at defending the run while the Jaguars offense has little more going for it than the legs (and hands) of Maurice Jones-Drew, who accounts for over 40 percent of the team's total yardage this season.

Honorable Mentions: Matt Forte (vs. San Diego Chargers), Marshawn Lynch (at St. Louis Rams), DeMarco Murray (at Washington Redskins)

Recommended sits: Cedric Benson (at Baltimore Ravens), Willis McGahee/Lance Ball (vs. New York Jets)

RB2: Maurice Morris, Detroit Lions (vs. Carolina Panthers)

Another Maurice, another must-start running back as the matchup is just too good to bench him. The Panthers rank dead last against the run and allow the fourth-most fantasy points to the running back position. It will be a banner day for the newly-anointed starter.

Honorable Mentions: Frank Gore (Kendall Hunter if Gore for some reason isn't a go) (vs. Arizona Cardinals), Michael Bush (at Minnesota Vikings)

Recommended sits: LeGarrette Blount (at Green Bay Packers), Jonathan Stewart (at Detroit Lions)

TE: Antonio Gates, San Diego Chargers (at Chicago Bears)

While the Chicago Bears defense is adept at defending the pass, that's simply not so against tight ends, who end up uncovered in their cover-two system quite often. And if there's a tight end adept at exploiting those weaknesses, it the Chargers' Antonio Gates, who despite injuries earlier in the season is still one of the league's most elite tight ends.

Honorable Mentions: Rob Gronkowksi (vs. Kansas City Chiefs), Jason Witten (at Washington Redskins)

Recommended sits: Visanthe Shiancoe (vs. Oakland Raiders), Jermaine Gresham (at Baltimore Ravens)

D/ST: Baltimore Ravens (vs. Cincinnati Bengals)

No matter the opponent, the Ravens usually come up big on defense. With the Bengals likely without star rookie receiver A.J. Green and running back Cedric Benson struggling to produce on the ground, the NFL's top defense is the top fantasy defense as well in Week 11.

Honorable Mentions: New York Jets (at Denver Broncos), San Francisco 49ers (vs. Arizona Cardinals), Jacksonville Jaguars (at Cleveland Browns)

Recommended sits: Atlanta Falcons (vs. Tennessee Titans), Chicago Bears (vs. San Diego Chargers)

K: David Akers, San Francisco 49ers (vs. Arizona Cardinals), Sebastian Janikowski, Oakland Raiders (at Minnesota Vikings)

Recommended sits: Olindo Mare, Carolina Panthers (at Detroit Lions), Phil Dawson, Cleveland Browns (vs. Jacksonville Jaguars)
