Week 11 Fantasy Football Projections: Matthew Stafford and More Dumb Starts

Andrew KulhaNov 17, 2011

Starting Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford this week in fantasy football would be a horrible idea, but he's not the only starter that would be a dumb start in Week 11 of the 2011 NFL season.

This is the time of the year where every single decision that you make can and will propel you to the playoffs, or ruin your season.

It's integral to make the right moves, and there is no room for mistakes.

You must choose your starters wisely. Be mindful of last week's performances, injuries and this week's matchups.

Based on that criteria, here are some really dumb starts for this week.

Matthew Stafford, QB Detroit Lions

First off, I'm exceptionally sorry if you started Stafford and his four interceptions last weekend. That alone is enough reason to sit him this week, but mind you there is more.

He's got a fractured finger on his throwing hand which he says doesn't bother him, but the 33-of-63 and four picks against the Bears suggest otherwise.

He's also wearing gloves, apparently to protect the finger, and that seems to be throwing him off.

It may seem like he has a good matchup against the Panthers, but his inconsistencies and possible injury makes him a bad start.

Eric Decker, WR Denver Broncos

Simply put, the Broncos do not want to throw the ball with Tim Tebow, so all of his wide receivers have become horrible fantasy options.

You could point to the fact that Decker hauled in a touchdown last weekend, but it was his one and only reception.

Not only that, but they've got the Broncos Thursday night on short rest, and Decker will be matched up with the Jets excellent secondary.

Overall, stay away from Decker.

Dwayne Bowe, WR Kansas City Chiefs

There is no doubting that Bowe is the heavy hitter for the Chiefs. One would think squaring off with a pretty bad Patriots secondary that gives up 308.4 passing yards per game, Bowe would be a great play.

He still may be, but he doesn't have Matt Cassel throwing him the ball anymore. I have a feeling Tyler Palko is going to have quite a rough go considering his first NFL start will be against the Patriots at Gillette Stadium.

Bowe may not even have a chance to see the ball, let alone catch one.
