WWE Survivor Series 2011: John Cena and the Rock Promos Are Foundation to Feud

T.J. McaloonNov 17, 2011

There is no one in the wrestling business that can command a wrestling crowd like The Rock and John Cena

Both of these superstars can control a packed arena better than anyone in the history of professional wrestling, better than wrestlers like, Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, Shawn Michaels, Dusty Rhodes, Chris Jericho and so on and so on.

It’s why their promo skills have built this feud between Rock and Cena to the epic point that it’s at now. Their year-long feud has been built all through talking.

We have only seen something like this once before in wrestling. The feud between Hogan and Sting for the WCW Title was built for a year with no wrestling contact. However, what differs the two is that it was only Hogan talking. We heard nothing from Sting, except him using his bat or attacking Hogan’s New World Order members.

However, from Rock and Cena all we get is verbal jabs on RAW and sparring with each other via Twitter.

It’s the verbal jabs that the wrestlers have traded that has kept this feud going. From Cena continuing to call out Rock on the fact that the only thing that he has delivered in the last seven years is taped messages, while Rock has called Cena out for having a fan base that has yet to hit puberty.

While these verbal jabs are all well and good, it’s the tension between the two that is bringing a lot of attention to the pay-per-view. That tension is making their Survivor Series match against The Miz and R-Truth one of the highest anticipated matches in the history of the pay-per-view.

The match itself could go for 15 minutes with Miz and Truth winning by pin fall and no one would care because it will be the interaction between Rock and Cena that will grab everyone's attention.

Should Rock or Cena cross each other during the match, it will send the Internet wrestling community through the roof. With a heel turn from either Cena or Rock, it will send their promos into another stratosphere.

This feud still has a long way to go before WrestleMania XXVIII. There will be a lot more verbal sparring between these two superstars with a lot more memorable moments like last week.

Get ready, strap in and hold tight. This feud is about to get electrifying.
