Week 11 Start 'Em, Sit 'Em: Tony Romo and Other Strong QBs to Sit

Eric BallNov 17, 2011

Don’t be fooled by Tony Romo.

He is the king of mauling bad opponents at home, only to completely fall apart on the road just when you think he can be relied upon in fantasy.

He’s playing the Washington Redskins in Week 11, a good matchup on paper. Yet this is one of the best rivalries in the NFL and the ‘Skins are going to give it all they have. He hasn’t put up starter-worthy numbers on the road in three of four road games this season.

It’s worth noting that Romo has a grand total of four touchdown passes in his last four games against the Redskins.

Sit him unless your bench option is named Blaine Gabbert or Colt McCoy.

Here are two other stellar QBs that should be on your bench in Week 11:

Jay Cutler vs. San Diego Chargers

The Bears are on a four-game winning streak thanks in large part because of the extra protection Cutler is getting.

His sack total is way down and the team is flourishing. A closer look reveals that dating back to Week 6, Cutler hasn’t able to throw for more than 267 yards and only once has he reached the two touchdown plateau. He has only thrown two picks over that span, but that’s really not a big deal to fantasy owners.

Expect him to really struggle against a rested and extremely desperate Chargers defense that is ranked seventh against the pass.

Joe Flacco vs. Cincinnati Bengals

Another player that has historically struggled vs. an opponent, the Bengals strangely own Flacco. In his past four games against the Bengals, Flacco has two touchdowns and NINE interceptions.

I don’t know what Marvin Lewis and Mike Zimmer know that the rest of the league doesn’t, but clearly this team knows how to defend “Joe Cool."

Expect yet another rough day for Flacco against a Top 10 pass defense.
