Elijah Burke Going To TNA?

Joe Burgett Dec 17, 2008

As many know, Elijah Burke was released by the WWE a little over a month ago. The WWE was trying to get over the 20 million dollar mark for cap space. And they were releasing kind of dead weight.

Burke had not been on WWE TV three months prior to his release. No storylines were thought up for him, and he didn't contribute himself. So since we are in tough economic times he was released. The WWE is not immune to economic problems of course.

But now Elijah Burke seems to be getting a new gig, this time in TNA. Burke has been a great wrestler in the WWE on the ECW brand, but he just didn't fit in to any other storyline after the New Breed, which he lead.

TNA liked him a lot, especially the TNA Talent Relations Director, Terry Taylor. According to Burke on his blog they had a lengthy, "enjoyable" conversation following a wrestling convention on December 6th.

He could debut with TNA if given a job within two months. That would give them plenty of time to figure out a good debut and possible storyline for him. Burke could shine in TNA if given the right opportunity.

They may keep him as he was in the WWE with a boxer gimmick. He was a great ametuer boxer with over 100 knockouts to his credit. So we know he is tough and can do well in many of TNA's concept matches.

This would be a nice pick-up for TNA in my perspective. Burke gives them young talent that they do need. And he really has not made a huge name for himself in the WWE, but it would be enough to get attention drawn to him.

I'm sure he'd come right in and be a TNA X-Division Title contender. I believe he is that good. Burke just has not be given a storyline other than the New Breed one, where can really flourish.

TNA could give him that, and since he is young they could build around him for the future. The only beef I have with him is his mic skills, they are OK but not really that great.

Guys like CM Punk got the ECW Championship instead of Burke for the fact of being better on the mic and being able to get crowds going. If he works on that he could be a great TNA wrestler.

Do you think should TNA sign Burke?
