Hope Solo: Once-Beloved Star Takes Hit After Dancing with the Stars Elimination

Not every sports figure rises to stardom and stays there. Some plummet to the pit of public vitriol, and such is the current state of Hope Solo's fame. 

A couple months ago, the masses were calling for more Hope Solo. Now it seems that America has had quite enough. They have gorged themselves on the soccer star and are finding her a tad distasteful at the moment. 

Solo ended her tenure on season 13 of the hit show Dancing with the Stars. She did not leave on the best of terms. Her stint was peppered with constant whining about how the judges were treating her and her partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy. 

Her dancing, which was stagnant and robotic, may have been excused if it weren't for her attitude with the judges. The whole mess seemed to rub fans the wrong way, and a beautiful and vivacious dancer was sent off before she otherwise might have been. 

US Magazine reports Solo was utterly distraught after the elimination show on Tuesday. The report states that she did one interview and refused all other media as she burst into tears and fled the scene. 

This is counter to the face she put on when the cameras were rolling. She stated the following after being eliminated:

This competition is one of the toughest competitions I've ever been a part of. It was an amazing opportunity. We have the most amazing fan base and instead of winning the mirrorball trophy, I'm going to try to win a gold medal this summer at the Olympics.

"

That is the Solo we all fell in love with, but hardly the one that showed up on a weekly basis. America was enamored with the soccer star that gave all she had and lost in the World Cup graciously. 

At some point, all of that went out the window. I look forward to seeing her represent the country at the Olympics. As for seeing her on a TV show or in another venture, I think we can all agree that it's best she stick to goalkeeping.
