Baron Davis About to Get Old Schooled by Betty White on 'Hot in Cleveland'

Gabe ZaldivarNov 16, 2011

Baron Davis may not need a lesson in hoops, but he sure could use a lesson in popularity. He is about to get schooled by one of the most loved celebrities in the game right now, Betty White.

Mark Dawidziak of The Plain Dealer reports Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Baron Davis is about to appear in an episode of the show Hot in Cleveland.

The NBA lockout has afforded basketball stars time to delve into non-basketball related passions. If the past week has been any guide, they are going to have a great deal more time to do as they please, because this lockout is not going to end anytime soon.

It's a good thing for Davis, because according to the report, he has a hankering for acting and would like to dive headfirst into it once his playing days are over.

If you ask anyone that has watched him in the last couple years, those days may be sooner rather than later. He has appeared in the film The Cookout, as well as an episode of ABC Family's Lincoln Heights.

If he wants to know the ins and outs of the acting world, he couldn't ask for a better tutor. Hot in Cleveland stars Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves, Wendie Malick, and of course Betty White.

If you want to know how to combine wit, charisma and charm on screen, you watch Betty White do her thing. She has enjoyed somewhat of a resurgence in her career ever since her recent stints on Saturday Night Live

The one thing I always take from seeing Betty White is that she doesn't take herself seriously. She can find humor in just about anything.

Ahem, Mr. Davis would be wise to take the lesson as he continues to mold the youth on the Cavaliers. The elder statesman had a better year as he took upon the leadership role for the broken Cavs.

That is one team that needs to laugh a little more amidst the season they just had. I expect Davis to flourish in his role. He will be playing himself after all.

According to the report, White's character tries to school Davis on playing basketball, and asks him to bring back the sky hook.

Ah, I have been saying that for years. Davis, please listen to the legendary Betty White. You can learn a thing or many.
