NFL Picks Week 11: Teams That Will Haunt Your Eliminator Pool

T.J. McaloonNov 16, 2011

The Survivor Pool is a growing trend in picking NFL games. It’s fun to do, as one loss will finish your season. However, these teams will ruin your perfect season while haunting your dreams of a perfect season.

So take my advice of staying away from a team like the Baltimore Ravens hosting the Cincinnati Bengals this week. I know it’s easy to take a look at this game and think that it will be an easy win for the Ravens.

However, this Bengals team has played extremely well through nine games this year.

The Bengals have a stifling run defense, ranking second in the NFL in allowed yards per game, allowing just 86 yards per game. That’s good enough for first place in the AFC and the AFC North.

This will make for a tough time for the Ravens, a team that relies so much on Ray Rice and the running game.

When the Ravens get their running game going, they are almost impossible to beat. However, when they rely on their passing game and Joe Flacco, they fail miserably.

Like last week in Seattle when the Ravens threw the ball 52 times for only 255 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

Do not take the Ravens this week, even if they are a six-point favorite at home.

Just like the Ravens, you have to stay away from picking the Chicago Bears.

The Bears this week host a struggling San Diego Chargers team that has lost its last four games.

However, those four losses have come with the Chargers losing by no more than seven points. San Diego scored 20 or more points in three of those four losses.

This week against a Chicago defense that ranks 29th in defending the pass, the Bears will struggle in slowing down a Chargers team that is fourth in passing offense.

Phillip Rivers might have a big day as he puts this Chargers team on his back. Rivers might put up numbers of 350 yards and three touchdowns against the Bears.

Before we go, I have to give you one more team to stay away from.

Please, whatever you do, stay away from the New York Giants.

The Philadelphia Eagles have struggled this year in losing six of their nine games. And they did get beat by the Giants when they faced each other in Philadelphia in Week 3.

That game saw Eli Manning throw for four touchdowns and saw the Eagles get abused by running back Ahmad Bradshaw. However, in this week’s game, Bradshaw is hurt and the defense will correct the mistakes from their first game.

This week, the Eagles know that their offense has to run through running back LeSean McCoy. They will exploit the porous Giants rushing defense with a lot of screen passes and running plays for McCoy.

McCoy will have one of his biggest days this week, as he will get the ball 30 times for 165 yards and three touchdowns.

Now, if you have already picked these three teams in your pool, then you have nothing to worry about. However, if you have not, then stay away and find someone else.

Mark my words, you will regret choosing them.
