NFL Week 11 Picks: Looking at Defenses Sure to Beat Opponents into Submission

Chris TrapassoNov 16, 2011

Offense rules today's NFL, but a few teams still have intimidating defenses that can single-handedly win football games.

These three defenses will dominate their opponents in Week 11.

I know—the Cardinals are coming off a huge win against the Eagles on Sunday and John Skelton threw for over 300 yards.

Unfortunately for the Cardinals, they're up against the best defense in football this week.

Patrick Willis and NaVorro Bowman have played as consistently as the Bears' Brian Urlacher and Lance Briggs this season. They stymie opposing runners.

Skelton has a great deal of upside and Larry Fitzgerald is always dangerous. However, in front of their home crowd, the 49ers will again flex their defensive muscles and cause chaos in the Cardinals backfield all afternoon.

Don't forget about defensive lineman Justin Smith, either. He's having an All-Pro season.

Dallas Cowboys vs. Washington Redskins Offense

Not a tough one to predict. The Cowboys' front seven is one of the most physically intimidating groups in the NFL, led by sack specialist DeMarcus Ware, who already has 13 quarterback takedowns this season.

Rex Grossman is starting again this week. Without many threatening options on the outside and a shaky offensive line in front of him, Rob Ryan's defense should have another field day.

Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Cleveland Browns Offense

Despite a 3-6 record, the Jaguars have a respected defense that is currently ranked 4th in total yards allowed per game.

The Browns come in with the 31st-ranked offense (Jacksonville is 32nd), averaging a shade below 15 points per game.

Peyton Hillis has already been ruled out for the game and they haven't been able to get any consistent production from Chris Ogbonnaya in the team's last few contests.

We saw what the Jaguars did to the Ravens a few weeks ago and they shouldn't have any issue limiting the Browns offense.

After all, all the other teams Cleveland has faced have done so with ease.
