St. Louis Rams to Have Broad Search for New Coach
The Post-Dispatch has an interesting article today about the Rams coaching search when the season ends. (Which is in 11 days! The end is in sight people!) There were quite a few good nuggets of information in the article that gives us a clue about how the search will go.
First, Jim Haslett will be considered. The front office seems to think that he has earned that right. I’m not so sure. He has presided over a mediocre to bad defense for three years and as interim head coach, he has talked a big game, but it has not shown up on the field in large part.

Secondly, the Rams will follow the Rooney Rule. They had no choice, but we here at Rams Gab hope that means that Raheem Morris will forgoe the future defensive coordinator position in Tampa Bay and conduct an interview.
Thirdly, the man running the search is Billy Devaney, with no input from Jay Zygmunt who will retire, or John Shaw, who will fade into the position of Chip Rosenbloom’s advisor on league matters.
It is good that Devaney is in charge, who has his background in player personell. VanRam at TurfShowTimes points out that Devaney has interviewed Jim Schwartz before in Atlanta, so look out for Schwartz.
Let’s get it on. I can’t wait for the rumors to start flying!
