NFL Power Rankings Week 11: Looking at Which Losses Dropped Teams Most

Zach KruseNov 15, 2011

Baltimore Ravens (No. 3 to 9)

A disturbing trend has solidified itself with the 2011 Ravens. The week after big wins, Baltimore almost always lays an egg. Let's run through the letdowns: After beating the Steelers in Week 1 by 28, the Ravens lost to Tennessee by 13 the following week. Following a win over the Texans in Week 6, the Ravens fell to the Jaguars on the road. And the latest letdown, where the Ravens lost to the Seahawks after coming back and beating Pittsburgh the week before.

Detroit Lions (No. 5 to 10)

It's pretty easy to figure out the Lions this season. When Matthew Stafford is protected and plays well, Detroit is as tough to beat as any team in the NFL. When it doesn't happen, the Lions are susceptible to losses like the one on Sunday. They still have their work cut own for them to make the NFC playoffs in 2011.

Buffalo Bills (No. 12 to 17)

The defensive issues that were on full display in Dallas have been seen all season for the Bills. But the fact that Buffalo's offense has come back down to earth is the concerning issue. If the Bills can't control the tempo of games and put up big points with their offense, they look more like the team we got used to seeing over recent years than the one that started 3-1.

Philadelphia Eagles (No. 19 to 24)

Like most, I've given the Eagles plenty of chances to put it together and get on a roll. Those days are over. One more loss almost certainly knocks them out of the playoff race, and that 'L' might come this weekend when Philly travels to New York to take on the NFC East leading Giants. It's been a hellish combination of poor play, coaching issues and locker room problems that has submarined the Eagles' 2011 season.

Carolina Panthers (No. 23 to 29)

The Panthers kind of have an Eagles feel to them without the playoff hopes. A lot of talking heads have continually given them a pass because of the play of Cam Newton and Steve Smith on the offensive side of the ball. This is still a team that won just two games a year ago. There are encouraging signs, but the Panthers have a long ways to go.
