Week 11 Fantasy Football: Maurice Jones-Drew and Others Destined for a Huge Week

John FrielNov 15, 2011

The fantasy football post season is looming and the regular season is coming to a close, which means you're going to need wins fast if you're a middle-of-the-pack team attempting to make the final spot.

To help get you started, we're going to give you a few players that you should start, because the chances are high that they're going to go off for a huge week this upcoming weekend.

Maurice Jones-Drew, RB, Jacksonville Jaguars at Cleveland

The always-popular fantasy running back in Maurice Jones-Drew will be taking his talents to Cleveland this Sunday, where he'll be taking on a Browns team that currently ranks 30th in rushing yards given up per game (nearly 143).

Jones-Drew only has three games with over 100 rushing yards, but two of those games have occurred in the past three games, with one of those performances coming against a lethal Baltimore Ravens defensive line.

Maurice has been looking for a breakout game this season, and he'll no doubt have a field day against a team that features one of the worst rushing defenses and the best passing defense.

With the Jacksonville Jaguars featuring Blaine Gabbert as their quarterback, they'll be running the ball all day with Jones-Drew possibly going for 150.

Adrian Peterson, RB, Minnesota Vikings at Oakland

Always deadly and in the midst of a minor slump where he hasn't run for more than 90 yards in three of the past four Viking games, Adrian Peterson will be looking to pick up where he left off with a game against an Oakland Raiders team that is ranked 25th in rushing yards given up per game (132).

Peterson has run for a combined 134 yards against the Carolina Panthers and Green Bay Packers over the past two weeks after running for a season-high 175 yards in the team's first loss to Green Bay. He has seen success against the teams with weaker run defenses before, as his other two 100-yard running games came against teams ranked near the bottom in rush yards given up per game.

The Vikings aren't the type of team to air it out, and we should expect a number of touches for Peterson.

Aaron Rodgers, QB, Green Bay Packers vs. Tampa Bay

Rodgers has thrown 28 touchdowns and three interceptions all year long and is prepared to throw a few more TDs in the team's matchup against a Tampa Bay Buccaneers team that is reeling with three consecutive losses.

With Rodgers throwing for four touchdowns and 250 yards against a weak Minnesota Vikings secondary, it wouldn't be a surprise if he does that and then some against an even weaker Bucs secondary that ranks 28th in the league in passing yards given up per game.

The Bucs are equally as abysmal in their rushing defense, but that gives no reason not to expect Rodgers to throw all over an embarrassingly weak secondary that ranks near the bottom.

Larry Fitzgerald, WR, Arizona Cardinals at San Francisco

The Arizona Cardinals will not be running the ball at all against a San Francisco 49ers team that currently ranks first in the league in rushing yards given up per game.

Rather than attempting to force the issue with Beanie Wells, the Cardinals will be looking toward their star receiver in Larry Fitzgerald to make some more holes out of a Swiss cheese secondary that ranks 26th in passing yards given up.

The first matchup of the season between the season between the two teams, the 49ers might have caught the Cardinals at the wrong time, considering they're coming off a big victory against the Philadelphia Eagles where Fitzgerald posted up 146 yards and two touchdowns.

The 49ers will win this one handily, but Fitzgerald will get a fair share of fantasy points.

Philip Rivers, QB, San Diego Chargers at Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears are riding a hot streak with four consecutive wins, but only one of those wins came against a team with a record above .500. They're going to be taking on a San Diego Chargers team that is only a game out of the top spot in the AFC West and extremely hungry for a win.

Philip Rivers has been all over the place this season with 15 touchdowns and 13 interceptions, and this could be his break-out game as he takes on a Bears team that ranks 29th in passing yards given up per game.

Rivers has five games with over 300 yards, and he could make it six as he looks to take advantage of a weak secondary.
