Fantasy Football Week 11: NFL Eliminator Picks To Keep You in the Game

Marco PatitucciNov 15, 2011

Week 10 was a rough one for me and many others.

My personal entry WTF left the ranks of the unbeaten as Baltimore’s late surge came up short against the Seahawks. Special teams cost the Ravens the game as kickoff returner David Reed fumbled twice and kicker Billy Cundiff couldn’t convert on two long field goals.

On a positive note, the rest of my analysis from last week proved accurate.

On Thursday night in the Raiders’ win, Carson Palmer showed off the chemistry he has been building with the Oakland receivers, specifically Denarius Moore.

I suggested avoiding a herd Philadelphia pick and they lost a shocker to the Arizona Cardinals.

As a high-reward pick, I recommended the St. Louis Rams, who won a close game in Cleveland. Of course I’m second-guessing myself over not going with the less-popular Rams pick, but there’s nothing I can do about it now.

Perfect entries were decimated this week with Chargers, Eagles and Ravens losses. There are less than 2,000 perfect entries left in ESPN Eliminator.

Shooting for 16-1 now, here are my picks through Week 10:

Week 1: San Diego Chargers

Week 2: New York Giants

Week 3: Dallas Cowboys

Week 4: Green Bay Packers

Week 5: New Orleans Saints

Week 6: Cincinnati Bengals

Week 7: Carolina Panthers

Week 8: Tennessee Titans

Week 9: Houston Texans

Week 10: Baltimore Ravens (loss)

The Detroit Lions are the most popular pick for Week 11 so far, getting about 24 percent of selections. I'm not crazy about this matchup. Lions QB Matthew Stafford has a broken finger and threw four interceptions last week.

Carolina's offense will look to return to form after a three point showing against the no-spread-is-safe Titans.

I call them the no-spread-is-safe Titans because their games have been decided by an average of 14.2 points this season.

The Panthers will rebound from that Titans loss and play the Lions close, if not pull off an upset.

The Patriots look like a sure thing hosting the Chiefs in the Monday night game. No qualms with that pick here.

The New York Jets are traveling to Denver to take on the Broncos. They're getting about 15 percent of selections. I have a hard time picking against Tim Tebow right now.

The most unconventional QB in the league has a way of making one spectacular play that makes up for three previous atrocious ones. Hey, you get four downs in this league right?

Denver possibly being without their top two running backs does make a Jets pick more attractive though.

The up-and-down Ravens have been burning eliminator entries all season. My advice would be to avoid using them if you haven't already. They're getting about six percent of selections this week as they host the Cincinnati Bengals, a fellow 6-3 team.

Week 13, the Ravens play the Browns. There are better options this week.

My high-risk/high-reward pick is again the St. Louis Rams. This week, they are hosting the Seattle Seahawks. It should be a ground battle between Marshawn Lynch and Steven Jackson with the Rams coming out on top.

I need to get back on the winning side of things this week though, so my pick is a no-brainer.

The best team I have available is the San Francisco 49ers and they are at home against the Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals are coming off a win against the Eagles while the Niners handled the Giants last week. Frank Gore's availability is a concern, but the 49ers have a lot of weapons for QB Alex Smith, including what may be the best TE combo in the league in Vernon Davis and Delaney Walker.
