Penn State Scandal: Tom Bradley Makes Good Use of Press Conference

Wes ODonnellNov 15, 2011

What more could you possibly want from Tom Bradley?

The beleaguered interim coach for the Penn State Nittany Lions has made all the right moves and said all the right things.

When asked about his relationship with former defensive coordinator and currently alleged pedophile and miscreant Jerry Sandusky, his reply was simple and to the point, "I'm not going to go there."

When asked if he watched Sandusky's interview last night he said, "I was working on Ohio State last night. I had other things to do."

When asked whether Mike McQueary would coach again at Penn State he said he couldn't answer that question.

When asked about his future with the Nittany Lions he said, "No, I have not heard anything at all. They asked me to do a job, that’s what I plan on doing."

And, when prompted, he denied the rumors that Penn State would not accept a bowl bid this season and not have a team next year.

Again, what more could you possibly want from Tom Bradley?

The Nittany Lions dropped their first Big Ten game of the year last week at home to Nebraska. At 8-2 (5-1 in conference), they still have a legitimate shot at winning the Big Ten title this year.

Unfortunately, they have to go through Columbus and Madison to make it possible.

Three of the Nittany Lions' four toughest games of the year were scheduled for the final three weeks of the season.

Wisconsin has been ridiculously good at home and the Buckeyes are up and down.

But Penn State won't lose for lack of work from their interim head coach.

They won't lose because of distractions. And they won't lose for lack of effort.

And, regardless of the outcome in these next two games, the university has awarded these players—who've been unfairly damaged by this scandal despite having no connection to it whatsoever—the right to play in a postseason bowl game.

Bradley is the right man to lead this team into that game.

In the face of everything that has happened, Tom Bradley has helped Penn State.

He made good use of his press conference last week and he did so again today.

For the duration of this season, the Nittany Lions football team is in good hands.
