NFL Power Rankings: Streaking Teams That Will Continue to Dominate in Week 11

Mike ChiariNov 15, 2011

As important as it is to win games throughout the season, it is absolutely vital that teams peak at the right time. With that said, teams can afford to struggle a bit through the early part of the season as long as they are able to string some wins together down the stretch.

With Week 11 about to commence, the time is now for teams to start making a move in the standings. Here are three teams that have been red hot as of late, or throughout the entire season, that will continue to roll with wins this weekend.

Dallas Cowboys

After getting throttled by the Philadelphia Eagles a few weeks ago, things looked grim for the Dallas Cowboys. However, the Cowboys have since bounced back with consecutive wins, including a complete demolition of the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. Quarterback Tony Romo and the offense are very much in sync and the defense has played much better in recent weeks as well.

Dallas should be in line for a third consecutive win this week as they take on the Washington Redskins. You never want to label a road divisional game as an automatic victory, but the 'Skins are in shambles. The quarterback situation is uncertain between John beck and Rex Grossman, and the defense has struggled as well. The Cowboys should have a field day on both sides of the ball.

San Francisco 49ers

Coming from essentially out of nowhere, the 8-1 San Francisco 49ers are now unquestionably one of the NFL's top teams. Some of that has to do with an easy schedule, but the Niners have managed to beat solid teams like the Detroit Lions and New York Giants thanks to a dominant defense and a mistake-free offense led by quarterback Alex Smith.

The benefits of playing the NFC West are great, and that should be the case again this weekend for the Niners against the Arizona Cardinals. The Cards have played much better as of late, but they simply can't matchup to the 49ers. Quarterback John Skelton was excellent this past week, but I expect San Francisco's defense to expose him, and I also expect the Niners to have a great day offensively against Arizona's suspect defense.

Green Bay Packers

Week in and week out the Green Bay Packers have proven why they are the best team in football. The Packers are the only undefeated team remaining in the NFL, and they have done it thanks to the superb play of quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the offense as a whole. At this point Rodgers is so efficient and so deadly that I'm starting to wonder if he might be a cyborg.

Look for Rodgers' method of seeking and destroying opposing defenses to continue this week as the Packers take on the struggling Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Bucs have often been blown out over the past month or so, and the Packers are certainly a candidate to do the same. Green Bay's defense has been shaky, but the Bucs have had trouble on offense all season, so I don't think they can hurt the Packers enough to score the upset.
