Jerry Sandusky Interview: Former Penn State Coach Buries Himself by Talking

Jerry Sandusky, the former Penn State assistant coach who has been charged with sexually assaulting children, spoke to Bob Costas on the NBC nightly news show Rock Center. The interview was graphic and it only served to bury him even deeper in this mess than he already is.

Former Penn State assistant coach Jerry Sandusky admitted to showering and horsing around with young boys, but said he is not a pedophile, in an exclusive interview with Bob Costas broadcast Monday night on NBC's Rock Center.  

"I say that I am innocent of those charges," Sandusky said in the phone interview.

"I could say that I have done some of those things. I have horsed around with kids. I have showered after workouts. I have hugged them and I have touched their legs without intent of sexual contact."

He admitted to showering with young boys around and touching them in inappropriate ways, but still maintains his innocence. That is like standing in front of a burning building with a pack of matches and gasoline but saying you did not do it. 

The legal process will determine Sandusky's guilt or innocence, but he did a lot more damage to himself and his credibility with his answers in this interview than he wanted to. 

Putting Sandusky in front of a jury after he admitted to being in a shower with children, not to mention all of the alleged victims who have come forward and can provide even more detail about this situation, it is going to be very difficult for him to prove his innocence. 

Considering where Sandusky is at after the interview, he would have been much better off if he had just said nothing. Virtually everything he told the world last night buried him even deeper, which I would have thought impossible 24 hours ago.
