NFL Power Rankings: Which Slumping Teams Need a Week 11 Win to Stay Relevant?

Eric BowmanNov 15, 2011

Losing in the NFL is not easy to cope with, especially if it's on a consistent basis.

A few teams have been big disappointments this season, but a victory in Week 11 will help some turn things around.

Bouncing back from a tough loss is hard enough, and when you've lost multiple games in a row it becomes much more difficult.

Here are three teams that desperately need a win in Week 11.

Kansas City Chiefs

After a horrendous 0-3 start with several key players getting injured and lost for the season, the Chiefs put a nice four-game win streak together to become relevant again in 2011.

Unfortunately, Kansas City has lost its last two games to sub-par teams, and the Chiefs need a win now more than ever.

The Chiefs hit the road this weekend to take on the surging New England Patriots, and beating Tom Brady and Bill Belichick won't be easy.

Matt Cassel is now out, and according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, it could be worse than anyone had hoped for.

Airing it out is the best way to beat the Patriots, which means the Chiefs wide receivers have to step their game up and make big plays on Monday night.

Detroit Lions

The Lions were the surprise team of the year through the first quarter of the season, but they have since lost three of their last four games and could really use a victory.

Detroit plays host to rookie sensation Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, and they have to find a way to shut him down. Forcing turnovers will be key, as well as intense pressure on the quarterback.

With the run game lacking, the Lions defense needs to step up and make big plays since the offense has become so one-dimensional. Coming off an embarrassing loss to the Chicago Bears, the Lions have to right the ship with a big win over the Panthers.

Reporter Chuck Garfien tweeted what everyone was thinking once the Lions suffered their third loss.

The Lions have a chance to make their doubters eat their words, but it will have to start by winning on Sunday against the 2-7 Panthers.

San Diego Chargers

The Chargers have lost four games in a row, and if they don't beat the Chicago Bears on Sunday their chances of reaching the playoffs will greatly decrease. Playing in Chicago in November is not easy task, so the Chargers certainly have their hands full.

Philip Rivers hasn't been all that great, with a touchdown:interception ratio of 13:15, and he also has six fumbles.

Norv Turner does take some blame as well, considering he seems to always struggle to motivate his team in the first half of the season. There's still time for the Chargers to pick things back up, but a loss on Sunday would be very devastating.

Eric Stangel, who writes and produces for the Late Show with David Letterman tweeted a funny line that sums up just how frustrating it has been to be a Chargers fan this season.

Fans sure hope this coming Sunday is much easier on their eyes, or chaos will ensue back in San Diego.
