NFL Fantasy Football Week 11: Running Backs Rankings and Projections

Sean E. DouglasNov 14, 2011

Marshawn Lynch @ Rams

What a season it’s been for Marshawn Lynch fantasy owners, as we’ve watched him struggle out of the gates, to starting look like a viable runner, then being a game-time scratch against the Browns and finally playing out of his mind over the past two weeks. After Lynch’s back injury against the Browns, I was done with him after he admitted that he had been bothered by the injury all year.

It was hard for me to see him holding up as a physical runner, when a back injury can easily re-aggravate and continue to be problematic. Who knows how long Lynch will hold up, but he’s clearly played like a solid RB-2 in recent weeks, and he has a great matchup on deck against the Rams.

Consider him a must start as long as he’s a go for the game, but if your like me, you have to wonder whether this will be the game that he disappoints again and continues to frustrate fantasy owners, as he has throughout most of his career.

BenJarvus Green-Ellis vs Chiefs

The Patriots played a good game against the Jets, but struggled to run the football, after BenJarvus Green-Ellis totaled over 130 yards on the ground in their first meeting back in New England. While Green-Ellis’s eight yards on the ground had to be a major disappointment to his fantasy owners, look for the Patriots to get healthy against the Chiefs this week.

Chiefs starting quarterback Matt Cassel may be done for the season after injuring his hand against the Broncos, and the Patriots will roll up a big lead early and run the football in the second half. No one can claim to know exactly how coach Bill Belichick will distribute the carries in the Patriots' backfield, but this is a game that is worth risking Green-Ellis as at least a flex play start.
