LaDainian Tomlinson Injury: Updates on Jets RB's Week 11 Status and Fantasy News

Tim DanielsNov 14, 2011

New York Jets running back LaDainian Tomlinson sustained a knee injury in Sunday night's game against the division rival New England Patriots. His playing status for the team's Week 11 game against the Denver Broncos is in serious jeopardy—especially since it's a Thursday clash.

Keep checking back to this page throughout the week for updates on Tomlinson's availability and potential fantasy value for Week 11.

Bad news, Jets fans. The knee injury Tomlinson suffered on Sunday night was already bothering him, and ESPN's Adam Schefter recently tweeted that it didn't get any better on Tuesday:

To be sure, this isn't a flat-out declaration that LT won't play on Thursday night against the Denver Broncos, but it's hardly encouraging.

If you have LT on your fantasy roster, now is a good time to start looking for replacements. To that end, checking out what the Broncos have to offer would be a good idea. They've made it pretty clear in recent weeks that they aim to run the football as much as they possibly can.

And against the Jets, that's not such a bad idea.

The New York Jets official Twitter page tweeted a status update on Tomlinson.

This isn't good news for Tomlinson and the Jets, especially since they play on Thursday night. If they were playing on Sunday, sitting out of a Tuesday practice wouldn't be as alarming as it is today.

It doesn't look as though Tomlinson will be good to go against the Broncos, which is disheartening for Tomlinson's owners.

His season hasn't been superb or anything like that, but those who have him and a depending on him are most likely in a deeper league, and this injury puts them in a bind.

We'll continue to monitor his status before the Jets play, but the safe bet looks like Tomlinson should be on your bench for Week 11.

Rich Cimini of ESPN New York tweeted that he isn't expecting Tomlinson to play on Thursday night. His knee injury will probably be too much to overcome in a short time period, especially for a player with as much mileage on his legs as LT.

Things could change before Thursday if Tomlinson feels good tomorrow morning, but the Jets are likely to play it safe with him. He should have plenty of time to recover before the team's Week 12 game.

Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reported that no structural damage was found when Tomlinson underwent an MRI. While that's good news for his long-term availability, it could still be enough to hold him out of this week's game.

Tomlinson is only a borderline flex option for desperate fantasy owners because of his time share with Shonn Greene. Since New York is operating on a short week, it shouldn't be too long before we get official word on the former superstar.
