Why Ferguson Is Still The Governor!...and Others Aren't

Adam JohnstonDec 17, 2008

Good Afternoon, Morning or Evening!

Well, what can I say, yet another of Fergie's apprentices has been sacked, this time it being Paul Ince.

What is it with Fergie's old players and staff going elsewhere to be a manager and being rubbish? Do they assume they are going to be as great as his majesty (Fergie)?

A lot of them are built up year after year, month after month, as the next Manchester United manager when in theory there are hundreds of better managers out there!

Being a successful player does not mean you are going to be even half decent as a manager! It's a totally different part of the sport altogether. I mean, just because you trained hard and were tough on the pitch does not mean you are going to be able to handle transfers, team talks, unity, and respect!

While it would be somewhat of a fairy tale, I don't want a Cantona a Hughes or even a Neville or Giggs to be in charge once the real governor hangs his team sheets and lovely woolen hat he wore the other day up!

Therefore, I have decided to list the worst four former United employees (Footballers and staff) that have transformed into managers in recent memory.

1. Paul Ince at Blackburn Rovers

Lasted four months at Ewood Park, Didn't win from September to December in the league leaving the mat the foot of the table and wasn't convincing in trying to keeps players like Roque Santa Cruz.

Just because he could manage well in the low leagues did not mean he was going to be a instant success in the Premierhsip. He was given a fair amount of time IMO and Screwed up badly.

2. Steve McLaren at England

Failed to qualify for Euro 2008, brought back Beckham after giving in too easily, was a wimp and stood with an umbrella and made poor tactical decisions. Ok so he was OK at Middlesbrough but honestly how he got the England job is beyond me. Actually England only went after him after failing for Scolari and Mourinho. Lackluster is the only word i can use to describe himself and his tenure at the helm of English football. Now Wonder he's hiding in Holland!

3. Roy Keane at Sunderland

Spent too much money on average players, Never were stable and grew a stupid beard! I mean how are you supposed to take a guy who looks likes Santa Claus seriously. He doesn't have the right temperament for a top manager job and this would be explainable why the Sunderland players cheered when he wasn't coming back.

Has been talked about as the next United manager even after being sacked, but what I'm trying to say is, 'please God nooo!'

4. Carlos Quieroz at Real Madrid/Portugal

I actually cannot explain this one! Being totally honest, I actually thought he was going to o very well as the new Portugal manager and while he may still get it right he has been pretty abysmal so far.

Loosing 6-2 to Brazil doesn't really help either does it? His Madrid tenure, I blamed because of the galactico nonsense going on how was he supposed to manage a team were the players are bigger than the club?? However, we don't want you back here Carlos, sorry man!

So as it goes Fergie is still the Governor and no one will say he isnt until he says so

All bow to the king.
